[/quote] ChampionEagles, It would not be as great of a season if say Newton or Kirbyville win state in their respected divisions but came in second place in district.  Then you would have people saying well if Kville was in d2 they would have won it, or newton saying "well since we beat Kirbyville in district and Kville won state in D1, newton would have won state in D1" You must not understand the real attitude of the coaching staffs or of the majority of the fans from these two towns.  Bragging rights... its all about Bragging rights.  And I can guarantee every player suited up that Friday night in week ten will play their hardest to bring home the district trophy.

But Newton is known in south east texas as a legit state contender year in/ year out and they face the problem of many schools not wanting to schedule them.  Barbay and his staff struggle and beg teams to take the field with them, but what 3A or 4A team wants to get embarrassed by a 2A squad.  And dont get me wrong, i support Kirbyville 100%, but when the schedules were made the last time the larger schools probably felt more comfortable playing Kirbyville than Newton.  It is a problem Kirbyville will definitely face when they try to put a schedule together this next year, because NOW people know they are for real.  Other schools now know Kirbyville has a good program that will be tough every year.  This post is not to put Kirbyville down, but rather to tell CLASS of 2011 that Barbay is never scared to play anyone, so you are ignorant in saying Newton "padded their schedule."  I imagine coach barbay would schedule Port Authur and West Brook if they would agree to it.

Silsbee vs Newton and WOS Jasper/Carthage Newton/Kville but all of these will be trumped once the playoffs start.  the games are always better when its win or go home and learn to dribble and shoot.

Kirbyville has a new d-coordinator that has two state rings in three state games at Newton, and you can bet he will have Kirbyville's defense more than ready for the playoffs.  I take WT and kirbyville vs any offense in the state this year.

I believe in the J-town dawgs... make us proud and ruin Carthage's winning streak.  Cant wait for this one!  Some games just make you forget to breathe when you think about them and this one is doing it to me.  Sorry, I just get excited.

Woodville has the athletes to play most any 2A team tough for about a half, and then I dont know if its lack of discipline or poor coaching that allows teams like Newton and Kirbyville to score at will in the second half.  They have the athletes to match teams like Newton and Kirbyville, they just havent found a program to get to their full potential in my opinion.  So I could see Kirbyville with maybe only a 14-7 halftime lead, then the Kats will be too tough and pull away in the second half 42-13.

I think that the key to Silsbee winning the games they have this year has been their defense.  I think their defense is getting over-looked.  The tigers have a defense that keeps games close and then Johnson makes a few amazing plays to put them ahead.  Silsbee wins and loses according to how their defense plays.  They forced Newton and WOS to throw the ball in order to beat them.  Wos couldnt get it done, Newton did.  They dont give up much on the ground, so I wouldnt put any money on Orangefield pulling off the upset.

Jasper is better than Rusk and Carthage couldnt "beat them like stepchildren". Jasper is one tough stepchild... I smell an UPSET!!! Its a long drive back home for Carthage.

I think its Newton's year this year. I think this may end up being another really special seasons for the Eagles. I like the Wildcat's chances though. I dont care who wins really. Both teams are really good and will probably be the last two teams in Southeast Texas playing deep into the playoffs.

35-13 Kirbyville. Woodville has some athletes, they just cant ever seem to put it all together. I think they will be the third team in out of the district though.

Kirbyville vs. Newton... This one will feature two teams that both will have a chance to win it all in 2A again.

I think Arp needs to focus on the here and now. Kirbyville is focused on one week at a time, and they are still VERY good. If Arp keeps looking forward to Kirbyville, they leave themselves vulnerable for someone to upset them. I know Kirbyville is focused on one week at a time. Even if this matchup happens, Kirbyville is still the best. I think if Arp had the schedule Kirbyville has played, they would have Kirbyville's record, if not worse. And as for Anahuac, hahaha. Kirbyville is under rated, PERIOD.

I can't wait... I wouldnt miss this for anything. Rusk gave Carthage some trouble tonight, so I predict that our Jasper Dawgs earn some state recognition with a BIG win. Jasper by 14

So Woodville/Hemphill will be the game that decides the third place team of the district... I think thats what everyone expected
