You people are awful and horrible. I graduated from Crosby High School int he Top 10%, I was number 25 in my class of 300. I made a 86 in Ms.Kelly E. Tumy's Dual Credit Class Comp. 1 English, , my junior year. Thank all of you for the negative comments you can fail me I try to be nice and write a story and get criticized for it. To all the people who use this site it makes me angry that you can attack me. I make some mistakes and your going to attack me for this. My name is Justin Aaron Kelm I am  a graduate of Crosby High School and  am a journalist and statistician. I write stories for the Crosby Cougars. I do independent stats as well. By: [b]Justin Aaron Kelm[/b] The Coogs came into Stall Worth Stadium seeking its first win of the year as they took on new District 19-4A running mate; the Baytown Lee Ganders. These Coogs were tired of there losing ways and were prepared to do anything by all means to ruin the Ganders night. The game kicked off with a bang and the Coogs defense didn’t hold giving up the nights first points on a 4 yard run by Gander running back Josh Brooks, but all was not lost. The point after attempt was no good and the score was now 6-0 in favor of Baytown Lee with 6:02 left in the 1st quarter. This game was different as the Coogs responded quickly to the Ganders defense, running back Jacoby Scott motored down the field and scored on a 2 yard rush, kicker Sam Fowler attempted the extra point but it was no good. This tied the game at 6 with 5:29 left in the 1st. The Coogs kicked off the ball after scoring on the first drive and neither team could score as both defensive units held each other in check. Jacoby Scott kept the Coogs offensive running as he stormed down the field and scored on a two yard scamper for his second score of the night giving the Coogs a small lead, 13-6 over the Ganders after Coogs kicker Sam Fowler connected on the extra point quarter came to a close. Just as the 2nd quarter came to a close, running back Jake ‘Peppe” Lafluer scored on a 15-yard run. The Coogs took a lead into the half 20-6; this was the Coogs first lead into half in the 2010 season. The 3rd quarter begun and the Coogs defense totally dominated the Ganders, resulting in a punt by the Ganders. The Coogs got the ball back and the man of the night Jacoby Scott had another 10 yard scamper to the end zone, totaling his scoring on the night to three rushing touchdowns, Fowler connected on the extra point and increased the lead to 27-6 in favor of the Coogs with 7:14 left in the 3rd Quarter.  The Coogs kicked off the ball to the Ganders and the defense couldn’t contain them. Ganders Quarterback Malcolm Ruben found Wideout Keith Johnson on an 8 yard jack. The Ganders made the score closer as (Emmanuel Torres kick), 04:28, 3rd was good, making the score 20-13. Feeling like the score was getting to close senior quarterback Dominic Merka got his name on the board as he found Wideout Willie Hebert on a 60 yard bomb. The score gave the Coogs a marginal lead as the Fowler kick was no good making the score 33-13 with 4:14 left in the 3rd. The Coogs defensive unit came back out on the field and thought they could stop the Gander Offensive unit quarterback Malcolm Ruben ran the ball 47 yards and down the Coogs throats, the (Emmanuel Torres kick was good), 00:48, 3rd, making the score33-20. The 4th quarter kicked off and Merka found Senior Wideout Forrest Tyler on a 19 yard pass making the score 39-20 as the Coogs got greedy and went for it on a two point conversion and failed with 8:15 left in the 4th quarter. The Coogs defense held out during the rest of the 4th quarter but then gave up its final points on the night on a Keith Johnson 2-yard run (Emmanuel Torres kick was good), 03:56 left in the 4th, making it 39-27 with little time left in the game. The Coogs offensive ran the ball down and the defensive units held the Ganders to the final whistle.  The Coogs lead to Jacoby Scott’s 171 rushing yards and three touchdowns helped give the Crosby football team its first win of the season Friday night, and spoiled Lee’s homecoming at Stall Worth Stadium. The Cougars ran away with a 39-27 win over the Ganders in the District 19-4A opener for both teams. Crosby now holds an overall record of 1-3 while Lee is 0-4. Lee actually had a slight advantage in first downs over Crosby, 22-18, and a huge advantage in total snaps, 72 for Lee and 47 for Crosby. But the Cougars, who out gained Lee with 415 total yards to 388 for the Ganders, had plenty of big plays. Crosby quarterback Dominic Merka completed 8 of 16 passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns. The Cougars (1-3, 1-0) will now prepare for their challenge against North Forest (Houston, TX). The Bulldogs come into District 19 4A challenge with a 2-2 record. In their last challenge, North Forest was knocked off by Goose Creek Memorial 28-12, in a league challenge.

In the previous year, the Coogs turned there season after the 3rd game of the year going onto a 10 game win streak  The game kicked off with the Coogs getting the ball but like previous weeks, the Coogs offensive unit couldn’t get anything done. But unlike in previous weeks the Coogs defense held the Pearland Dawson Eagles in check until the end of the 1st, Eagles Wideout Steve Orisakwe scored on a  3-yard run (Rodolfo Rubio kick), 01:48, 1st. The Coogs received the ball back and again couldn’t seem to find anything, resulting in a punt. The 1st quarter ended and the Coogs defense held them in check. As the 2nd Quarter began the Eagles running back Tre Oliver scored on a 11-yard run (Rodolfo Rubio kick), 08:40, 2nd, making the score 14-0 in favor of the Eagles. The Coogs and Merka got the ball and had nothing for the Eagles as there defense held the Coogs in check all night.  Eagles Wideout Payton Jones scored on the Coogs defense on an 8 yard rush (Rodolfo Rubio kick), 03:49, 2nd, the Eagles kept piling on the score making it 21-0.  After the Jones score the Coogs and the Eagles were in a stalemate until the end of the 3rd Quarter when Eagles Quarterback Garry Kimble found Wideout Randall Weeks on a 40-yard pass, making the score 28-0 over the Coogs after a (Rodolfo Rubio kick), 03:17, 3rd. The Coogs couldn’t get anything going on the offensive side of the ball but the defensive unit lead by Gage Baker and Zayne Harbor stopped the Eagles from scoring anymore points but it was little to late. The Eagles shut out the Coogs and improved their record to 1-2. On the other hand the Coogs fall to 0-3.

By: [b]Justin Aaron Kelm[/b] The Coogs came into the “Reservation” in Groves, Texas as they took on the Port Neches Indians sporting a 0-1 record, craving a win.  The night was awful and the Coogs couldn’t get anything going the game kicked off and the PN-G Indians came out with a furry, these Indians wanted to scalp the Coogs.  PN-G (1-1) basically wore down the smaller Cougars (0-2) and the gashes in Crosby's defense began to enlarge wider and wider after the Indians owned only a 10-0 halftime advantage. Honestly, everything about PN-G's second-half performance looked great, even though Crosby owned more first downs and total yards at halftime. Quarterback Brennan Doty for the Indians had the better night of two well-respected passers, completing 12 of 18 for 178 yards and four touchdowns. Crosby counterpart Dominic Merka was 14 of 33 for 193 yards and a score, but two interceptions. Here's the misleading aspect of Merka's night, though. The Crosby passer was 4 of 12 for 41 yards with two interceptions at the end of three quarters. The Indians had a 31-0 upper hand before the TCU pledge ever piled up his numbers.  PN-G's defense did not try to suffocate Crosby by any means. The Indians linebackers and corners loosened the space at the line of scrimmage and allowed themselves a cushion to cope with Crosby's speed and Merka’s skills as a runner and thrower. Crosby ran for a net of 15 second-half yards at the same time that PN-G's offensive line was bringing out the hammer.  PN-G's starting receivers showed good speed on this outing too. Amir Jalali grabbed five balls for 81 yards and two scores. Jayce Nelson looked like a faster version of Spencer DeRon, catching five for 58. Collin Gizzi had 2 for 39 and has seemed to be good for at least one big play night after night. Schexnider and Hunter Knox intercepted Merka who had two other disasters in the first half's final three minutes. A high snap sailed over punter Merka's head, setting up the Indians' first touchdown. Crosby answered back, moving from its 27 to PN-G's 21 in the half's final minute. Merka kept the ball on an apparent quarterback draw. Safety Tanner Jorgensen jarred the ball loose and end Christian Shetley claimed the free ball for PN-G on the Tribe's 14. The Coogs just couldn’t get anything going and all hell broke lose, but the only good thing on the night was when Merka connected with Wide Receiver  Willie Hebert for a 41 yard jack, making  the score 31-7 in favor of the Indians with 10:27 left in the 4th. After the Indians gave up the first score of the night, the Coogs defense couldn’t contain them; the Indians Brennan Doty had a 14-yard run and scored on the Coogs with 7:43 left in the game, making the Indians up 38-7 over the lonely Cougars. The Coogs couldn’t get anything going and the Indians just decided to run the ball till the final whistle. The Indians knocked off the Crosby Cougars, by a final score of 38-7.

[b]By: Justin Aaron Kelm[/b] Kickoff, the Crosby High School 2010-2011 season kicked off as senior Dominic Merka led the charge as they faced a new rival, the Montgomery Bears. These Bears had some unsettled business as the Coogs ended there hopes of a state title last year in the 2009 playoffs.  The game stared off with a bang, as now senior Quarterback Dominic Merka scampered in for a 14 yd TD run, with 6:43 left in the 1st. It’s not as though Kevin Flanigan and the Crosby Cougars didn’t know what to expect from 2009 playoff foe, Montgomery.  They just weren’t able to stop it. Leroy Dobbins rushed for 220 yards and five touchdowns Friday to power Montgomery to a 56-30 victory over Crosby in the season opener for both teams.  The win was sweet for the Bears, who saw their 2009 season end in a third-round playoff loss to the Cougars. Dobbins scored on runs of one, four, 17, 20 and his 71-yard burst early in the second half erased a 23-21 Crosby lead. Flanigan knows what it’s like to have a rough start to the season.  Last season, the Cougars were blown out by Ennis in Waco and lost their next game to Port Neches-Groves before winning 10 straight games. They reached the fourth round in the state playoffs. Gage Larkin recovered the second half kickoff for Crosby and three plays later Dominic Merka, who finished with 123 yards on 19 carries and three touchdowns, scored on a 13-yard run that gave the Cougars a 23-21 lead.  But on Montgomery’s first play from scrimmage in the third quarter, Dobbins raced around the right side of the Cougars’ defense for a 71-yard score that gave the Bears a lead they would not relinquish.  Dobbins added third-quarter scoring runs of 17 and one yards.  Tyler Bolfing passed 34 yards to Alex Peppe late in the third quarter to give Montgomery a 49-23 lead. Montgomery’s Tevin House scored on a 30-yard run in the fourth quarter and Jake LeFleur added a three-yard run for the Cougars. Jacoby Scott returned the opening kickoff 33 yards and Merka scored on a 13-yard run to cap an 11-play drive that gave Crosby a 7-0 lead with 6:43 left in the first.  But Montgomery scored on its first possession with Dobbins crossing the goal line on a 4-yard run with 2:54 left in the first. The Bears Jeffrey Elliott recovered a Scott fumble and two plays later, Dobbins scored on a 20-yard scamper that gave Montgomery a 14-7 lead.  Merka countered with a seven-yard scoring run on the last play of the first quarter but an errant snap on the PAT left Crosby trailing, 14-13. Montgomery’s Jimmy Dominick returned the kickoff 62 yards to the 20 and two plays later Bolfing scored on a 20-yard run that increased the Bears’ lead to 21-13 with 10:50 left in the half. Crosby inched closer with a 40-yard field goal by Sam Fowler that pulled the Cougars to within 21-16 at the half, but that is about it as the Bears took off and pulled away during the second half. The Coogs fell 56-30 to the Bears. The Cougars now sport a 0-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Port Neches-Groves for a non-league challenge on Friday, September 3. Crosby will meet an Indians team coming off a 30-29 non-league loss to Gregory-Portland (Portland, TX). The Indians record now stands at 0-1.
