I totally agree...my attitude is best wishes to Kat fans and sincerely hope they succeed in whatever direction their leadership takes them, but I only care about Lamar..hopefully very soon we will be out the SLC and their interest in us will die also..and if not...from afar and only on their boards. One note about McNeese and their fans..they were so classy at our first football game. They geninuely were happy for us to be back and kept wishing us good luck etc. I am very glad that we will continue that rivalry even when we leave.

This is total speculation but I do believe Dr. Simmons and Coach Tidwell haven't talked to anyone from the WAC...but whose to say the special assistant ( Coach Tubbs) hasnt been in close contact?. I think Dr. Simmons may have slipped when he said something like "until they make a definitive offer"..if no talks at all then it would be no type of offer...I will continue to keep my fingers crossed, but it does feel we are getting closer.

and based on what Coach Tubbs said in his interview at the SHSU game I believe we might be really looking close at the Sunbelt. Its interesting that we are winning Southland conference titles lately - womens BB, Mens Baseball, now mens cross country,..maybe the mens BB will be at least co-champs again. I think its time to really place ourselves in a better conference. The Southland wont be the same in a few years and we need to move on.

I will be glad when we leave the SLC. I also was upset when we left the Sunbelt as well. I don't understand why SHSU or their fans would care whether we left or not and if we do that it has to be in tandem with them. If they want to stay FCS or pump up the SLC or whatever I say great and more power to them. Dr. Simmons has a long term plan for where Lamar as whole is going and understands the mistakes of the past...and we will succeed in the FBS. The same arguments for FBS seem to be the the same about should we bring back football in the first place..and will any one come out to support it, it will cost too much to fix the stadium etc etc etc. I really trust Dr. Simmons to continue make quality first class moves.

I definitely enjoyed it..we won..however it is done..scoreboard....we are now 3-3 for a first year team. We will prepare for South Alabama next. Also had about 17,380 in the stadium for 3rd sellout in a row..pretty awesome achievement if you ask me.

Its good to see that they are on top of it and realize the mistakes of the past. From the article it looks like Tidwell ( and Dr.Simmons)  is thinking FBS very near future and has a sooner than later attitude.

Just curious if your source said anything else like... not right now but later or looking at different conference? If Denver goes to the WAC then there is another opening in the Sunbelt etc

What is this years season ticket sales so far? I heard some one say there is only 1500 left in walkup so curious how we are doing. If the McNeese game is any indication( and I was there also) I am more concerned about tickets being available than us not selling. I think the Lamar fans (and community) have realized and know what we lost for 21 years and so proud of the first class way we have returned. So not worried about ticket sales in the slightest. I definitely think that long term FBS is the way to go, and just looking objectively from a far see the pieces falling into place..the foundation is building.

Does anyone know if Lamar has been talking with other conferences WAC etc) since the shakeups?

I hope we do get an invite from the WAC...I heard that the basketball tourney will be held in Las Vegas! :)

I also heard about the Pac -10 wanting Utah,Colorado or BYU to expand to 12. Maybe this is the beginning of the conference realignments...and also might cause Lamar to make a move sooner than later to the WAC, Sunbelt or a new combo southwest conference.

I can't wait..especially via what RS73 said he overheard Dr. Simmons say in the season ticket line..I truly believe we can and will take that next step...just look at the campus now as compared to when i graduated in the 90's..i think we are definitely on our way

Great win for team..and good one for Roc..he really made some good adjustments when SFA took the 5 point lead at the start of the 2nd period...they came back quick after the timeout.

I totally agree and great list of teams for new conference (some from the old American South)..I did wonder though why the addition of SMU, Tulsa and UTEP from Conference USA although very good choices..have you heard something from other forums? And any other additions to this list like Rice or Tulane? I was thinking La -monroe but have heard they are hurting for funds and ULL would not want to be in same conference with them also.

Please do ask them to release the plans. I have asked a couple of times especially when the option for season tickets for Cardinal Club members came out recently. I personally wanted to see the whole seating options not just for the gold/red options presented. They said they would be releasing plans soon but that was 2 months ago. Also I did ask about the configuration of the stadium and they said there were/are plans for a bowl, but not for next year. Of course this could change also.
