In addition to keeping the kids active, it keeps the kids motivated to keep working hard during the season when all seems lost.  Take this year's Nederland team for example...  it would have been easy for the players and coaches to pack it in early instead of learning from the adversity presented to them...  they will take that experience with them forever!

NO! So why is everybody so upset about 4 playoff teams???????

Still shocked how a kid leads his team in tackles and doesn't even get honorable mention! And the coaches who know football make these selections???

Good point!  My team is 5-5 and I believe they are going to beat a team that went 7-0 in their district.  And they will if they play like they can play...  I think the concept here that I was addressing was criticism towards having more teams in the playoffs, and how a team that went undefeated could lose to a team that did not win a lot of games in the regular season.  Personally, I like the idea of having more teams getting extra games past district. It gives the players that had some hard luck early in the season something to look forward to and something to play for when all seems Lost!  Otherwise, they could just give up and the coaches could give up and what is that worth??? (Although I really know it's ((the extra season)) all about $$$, and that's OK....) I have witnessed a team come from the dead, found something late, and now has developed into an excellent Football TEAM!  That, to me, is worth the extra playoff teams... :'(

So how many 2-8 teams beat a 10-0 team???  Really?

Although I agree that we really should not call out players and coaches directly, I do believe that its the very nature of these sites that the performances on the field are sometimes going to be implied or called into question by the comments. Just like watching the commentators on ESPN, everyone involved has to take what they read/hear for what its worth which is absolutely nothing of value whatsoever, and make sure the kids understand the same. If I were a coach or parent, I would avoid this and all other sites like it altogether unless you are able to see it for nothing more than entertainment value. I would FORBID the kids from reading any of this junk. Its DEFINITELY not to be taken seriously. I dont even take myself seriously, much less what any other self proclaimed (or implied) authority has to say on here. I was doing this before there was a single purpose built Texas football site in the web way back in 1996, we did our talking with MsNed, Jake94, GoStangs, Coog4Life and the famous Austin Kinghorn from Barbers Hill on a little backdoor forum on the old Beaumont Enterprise site. Then came the flurry of sites like this and its been a free for all every since. Is coach of the year based on the regular season, or, does it include the playoffs?

Oh, and congratulations to the Nederland COACHES! You've stood through a lot of adversity this year, and, proved what an excellent program you have achieved!

I noticed this Broussard 28 kid last night, too. From the first play to the end he is in the tackle, and if not he is hitting somebody somewhere! Appears to be the defensive leader... He plays with a lot of heart and passion... bet Neumann would take a team full just like him.
