To help with integration, You don't believe that urself. But what ever makes u feel better. Sorta like 5-5 and stocky is better than 6-5 and skinny.
The original concept for 'Magnet" schools was to jump start integration, at least in the larger cities. Maybe in the smaller towns like Beaumont,  it was started for a different reason.
The original concept for ACORN was an honorable one, also.
yep

Next up the Houston Area.  You can probably bet your right arm on that.  They are probably just as bad as the Dallas Area.  Anyone remembers Gulf Shores High School ?  Prime example.
Dove is pretty confident that all of those Houston schools run a clean and integrity-laden program.
I'm just saying its too late. Dallas area was still out of control. Houston schools are going by the rules. Kid tried to transfer and play last year at Yates. They did not let him play varsity, so he went back to his original school.
So, he DID transfer Yates for Basketball purposes, right? I thought these kids were transferring to Yates bc it is a Magnet School for academics? ???
And Yates abided by the transfer rules!!!!!
Probably because there were at least 5 players better than him.

Can you find the truth for me on the 40 other transfer applicants?

I am not on the basketball board much but I saw this thread and started reading......Yates for academics? Right......BUT, Bellaire got an awful lot of really good baseball players being a magnet school. My understanding then was that if they offered a course that the students school didn't offer they could transfer. I guess all baseball players wanted to learn Russian or Zimbabweian or whatever 3rd world country language was hot that year
What? I personally know kids at Yates making good grades AND they earn them!!! My son is good friends with several of the players. Yates is an inner city school and like most of these schools they have to try and educate the students most other non-inner city schools don't want as students.

Give it up Dove.  They are coming to Yates to play basketball.  You know it.  I know it.  So does everyone else.  Inner city does NOT justify anything that is taking place.

I was not trying to drag down Yates, I just was saying if a kid was truly worried about academics, sat down with mom and dad and said...."take basketball out of the equation, where do I want to attend school for academics......I do not think Yates is in the top 100 schools listed.
