#4 &#25 FOR ST.PIUS ARE 2 VERY GOOD PLAYERS.ANY GOOD COACH WOULD WELCOME THEM AS STARTERS IN HOUSTON OR BMT. AREA.NOT SURE IF THEY ARE HOOD KIDS OR SUBURBAN CATHOLIC KIDS, EITHER WAY THEY ARE TOP NOTCH PLAYERS.THE SUBURBAN KID/ HOOD KID PHILOSOPHY IS A JOKE.
i agree and St Thomas has better players than pius and Pius is DEFINITELY a football school Thomas is the Basketball and Baseball school.

St. Pius was not very good. The point guard did a lot of juking, but never went anywhere. They had some big guys, but none of them could score. Nederland played a 1-2-2, but really squezed the middle since St. Pius put someone running from elbow to elbow. This left their wings open for 3's after one pass. Rarely did they attempt a 3, and didn't make the ones they attempted. St. Pius pressed Nederland, but Nederland was too quick and broke it every time. Ball went to the middle, and they ran the floor. Weisbrod's FG percentage MUST go up.
WEISBROD did not have a good game, no doubt, but he still scored 17 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. He needs to realize that he does not have to do everything on his own. St  Ps point guard is highly ranked in the houston area. He is very quick, but he does not have a good shot.

I hope your joking Dove.
The St. Pius kids are good. But St. Pius is a football school for those who don't know. They are trying to build their basketball program. Again, the suburban kid is a catch word in reference to a mind set.  I use towards my kids as well. Those who want it (hood) and those who would rather play X-Box (suburban). Get it? :-\ Oh nevamind

But Dove, aren't you part of the crowd that complains about stereotyping?  Isnt that exactly what the "suburban" inference is? I know how you love when I bring up the old days.  Here is the reverse of what we normally hear about.  Remember the Larry/Magic rivalry? Check out their background/upbringings and you will find it was Larry who led the underpriviledged life and Magic had it pretty good growing up.  But I will bet if we asked the "crowd" that I just referenced, the general perception would be totally the opposite.
Nash and his politics on a sports forum ;) But hey, you bring up a good comparison. See, knowing what I know about Bird, he would go under my "hood" category because he was hungry for the game. Didn't allow the television or girls dictate his commitment to getting better.

They may be a Football school, i have no idea. Don't keep up with that. I do know that they had two players who graduated last year who went on to play college BBall, and this year's team has a D1 commit to San Diego, another who has the physical tools to dominate (#50), and another who is highly ranked in the Greater Houston area (#4). Isn't that what you look for Dove, Individual talent? Also have some promising Freshmen on JV (including Sheryl Swoops son). Nederland's JV just a much better 'team'.
I like what AAW said on another thread about one magazine ranking 'teams' vs the other who emphasizes players and individualism. I know which one i'm going to listen to regardless if 'Da Magazine' said that Nederland will sweep through district again. I don't think that's going to happen, but I would certainly welcome it (again). That's why we play the games.

#50 did nothing, but looked great coming off the bus. #4 did a little more than nothing. English and Weisbrod are pretty good, but not great...yet. St. Pius's 2 were shut down by Nederland's defense which left English and Weisbrod matched up against those 2 in the 1-2-2 defense they played.

I agree. #50 was intimidating, but did nothing. That's why i said he has the physical tools to be good. My other point is that #4 is highly ranked amongst PGs in Houston, and he did nothing against Ned. The few times he penetrated the zone, he was met by two 6'5 kids down low. 'Da Magazine' had St.Pius ranked 26 in the Houston area in 5A, 4A, 3A, and Private schools. They have Ned at 27 in the greater Houston area. They have never seen Ned play, but they have seen English and Weisbrod play. I think they must rank 'teams' according to individual talent from players they watch over the summer in the AAU world??

BTW-Can someone please figure out a way to put this on the Ned/St. Pius thread?  8)
Those St. Pius kids are okay. Not great!!!Guess what! Just because you're signed to a D1 school does not mean your a good basketball player. Some kids have good grades and happen to play basketball. Helps with the graduation rate for NCAA requirements ;) Here is a shocker. I actually promote S.E.Texas Basketball to the Houston area crowd. But I ain't naming what schools I throw out there. It would mess up my reputation in this area ;)
Good observation, they rank some schools by the individual players they see in Houston playing because they have no clue about teams in this area.

Yes, what more do you want?  HF smoked a Vidor team who is still missing their football players!!!
OMG! Another football excuse. Give HF some props. I think Vidor beat HF 4 times last year.
Sorry BlueDove, no props here. Montana Quirante, starting forward, MVP of 20-4A is still playing football as is Steve Dahlenburg, starting center, also probably all district football player as well as two other kids. Enjoy your victory for now...HF will get clobbered when football season is over.
