Home Runs

By my count, thanks to Critter keeping up with homers, there have been 234 home runs hit this season to date.  Any ideas on why so many home runs?  Favorable weather/wind patterns?  Juiced ball/corked bats (kidding), weaker pitching?

I follow Kelly Baseball most closely and nearly every starter has at least one home run this year.  I notice other teams like WestBrook and PNG putting up big numbers as well.  Any thoughts?  I keep thinking district play will cut into those numbers, but that has not really been the case thus far.

I'm thinking a little bit of everything.... Pitching, Bats are better, lighter, and with a bigger sweet spot.  I also think the number will decrease next year do to the bat ruling.

Sorry to have opened a can of worms.  I guess I didn't realize there were so many last year, or in previous years.  Guess we are right on track.

Nederland is [b]way[/b] up this year.  They have 17 compared with only 7 last year.  One reason could be, that they have yet to play a game at home.  Usually the Dogs have played almost half of their games at home by now.

Nederland's park is one of the toughest parks in the area to hit HR's in.  The wind always blows in from left and center is where fly balls go to die.

Critter,

West Sabine's Chris Williams hit the first Home Run out of the new West Sabine Tiger Field. Monster shot much like the one he smashed out of Kirbyville last year in the playoffs. That one went through the very top of the big tree on the fence way behind left field.

Yep,  Chris did hit an absolute bomb! Had to have gone at least 400 feet because its 402' to dead center and roughly 380' to the power alley where he hit it. It got out in a hurry!
