These Girls deserve a round of applause...they are now ranked #09 in Texas South...#60 in Region 3 ( which consist of Texas, LA, Miss, Alabama, Florida) and #301 in the Nation!  They just went 4-0 in the Texas Cup in Dallas.....Congrats Girls!!! Keep it up!  Hard work pays off!!!

What high schools do these girls play for.? Encouraging that the local high school teams may have some type of talent to push competition locally.

Most of the best 92-93 Girls have flowed through Mike's Team in one capacity or another. Job well done by a guy who has spent the last 12 years doing one thing, and that is building the best girls team to EVER come out of the Triangle!

Also in the Region other than the 5 States mentioned above is Arkansas, Oklahoma, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia.

Big ups to Steve Hernandez's U-19 team, (many of these players are sophomores) who are battling this weekend in the State Play offs for Div II. They are currently 2-0, with 3 games to go. Another team with multiple members of many of the same if not all of the local High Schools!

ps. Zuri Prince is trying to make a move on that Best in the Triangle honors.
She has 11 goals in her last 3 high school games and 2 more in the Texas Cup,
however Yasmine Afshar had 4 goals in the Texas Cup, many to determine the outcome of the game. I guess Yasi turns it on when there is scholarship money on the line.lol. But just like the Heisman.... The Colt McCoys and Tim Tebow's of the World could not even come close without the outstanding play of their defense. Great work... Mike Hughes has done a tremendous job managing this team, arguably Spindletop Select's most successful, since the girls were in their preteens. The proof is in the pudding. Many of the best soccer players in SE Texas have played for him and it is no coincidence. It takes an enormous amount of time and dedication to put together a top-level team for so many years. All the girls who have played for him have benefited tremendously and owe some amount of their success to him. Great job Coach Mike.  The current Spindletop trainer Jan Van Bevaren is also one of the best and this area is lucky to have someone of his caliber.
