Bmt. Isd sports complex

All I'm saying is surely there's a more central location. Its probably 15 mins from all 3 schools not counting traffic. Its gonna be massive though I can already see that.

Ozen's the closest being on Fannett Road.  West Brook is next since all they have to do is come straight down Major.  Central is the furthest but not by much.  All within 15 minutes.....

Just a question.  Why is it that only people not from Beaumont always have little smart remarks and stuff about the BISD Superintendent?  Let that man be.  Everytime a subject comes up about BISD, there is somebody that comes in and have jokes about how much money he makes.  Makes it sound like jealousy...

i'm jealous of his money but not his job. too much heat in that kitchen. beaumont politics are something else. i think he deserves what he gets paid. he hasn't taken a raise for a while. i say if you don't like it, go to school for about ten years, get your doctorate, and apply for the job when it comes open.

Well, people who hate the money C. Thomas makes should look at the vote.  It was either 7-0 or 6-1 by the school board in favor of the raises.  Now I see some mad parents of Sally Curtis wants 2 at large seats on the school board instead of the current set up.  A bunch of whiners I tell ya...

No SIR!!! but we don't put value on education like we do the refinery jobs!  We like to put value in everything else but the education of the children....

Refineries are private, not taxpayer funded. For now, anyway.

My question is why build it to begin with? It won't be a playoff spot because it is not in a neutral site. I guess if you get Port Neches and Nederland to play their annual game there you can get some of your money out of it. Beaumont schools will never fill this stadium. Waste of tax payers money. It will look pretty right off of IH 10 though. Why not sink money in the school system as a whole. Is the supt of BISD going to take a cut in pay to help pay for this? All that money he makes.

3 schools in Beaumont, a 4th is in the planning. Does it make economical sense to use/maintain 1 great stadium or maintain 3 or 4 bad stadiums.

Hey guys just trying to stir the pot a little and it worked. It got this thread some action and there was some positive comments. Got to throw a negative in there every once in a while to keep things unbalanced. I am looking forward to seeing the complex when it is finished. Have a great day everyone. ;D ;D ;D

You tell em Soul! They need to mind their business, and worry about where their tax money is going.

One of the best things Beaumont did was move the state fair to the Ford complex.

I never had a problem with parking at the old fair.  My best friend's aunt lives right by the gate.  We used to park there every year without a fee!

I did have more fun when it was by the babe. Of course I was younger then. Let me rephrase my comment. Since they moved the fair to the ford complex it is easier for older people to get around. How is that? ;D ;D

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
