A few years ago, I listened to a halftime interview on a SLC broadcast as the league commissioner, Tom Burnett, stated that when schools in Texas do not have football, people wanted to know why. Two schools no longer have to answer that question as SLC members Lamar and UTSA are in the process of adding football to their offerings during the next few years. Interesting subtopic at the end re: SLU cuts: "* A worst-case scenario situation has SLU putting two sports on the chopping block, according to a proposed budget-reduction plan put forth by the institution. Southeastern, like other schools in the state, were told to prepare for large budget cuts and while the state legislature could reduce said cuts, plans had to be made. "

" This article was apparently put together prior to SLU cutting men's tennis.
