The Shell Houston Open can pencil three more of the world’s top 20 players into its field.

No. 6 Henrik Stenson and No. 7 Robert Karlson of Sweden and No. 19 Martin Kaymer of Germany added their names to the SHO commitment list on Monday. The latest flurry of commitments gives SHO tournament director Steve Timms six of the world’s top 20 players in the field for the April 2-5 event at the Redstone Golf Club Tournament Course.

“We are well on our way to a quality player field,†said Timms, who also serves as president/CEO of the Houston Golf Association.

Stenson, 32, has 11 victories around the world — his most notable being the 2007 WGC Match Play. He finished third last year at the U.S. Open and fourth at the PGA Championship and teamed up with Karlsson to win the World Cup.

Karlsson, 39, has 10 victories around the world and last year became the first Swede to win the European Tour Order of Merit. He finished eighth last year at the Masters, fourth at the U.S. Open and seventh at the British Open.

Kaymer, 24, was the 2007 European Tour Rookie of the Year. He captured his first professional victory at 19 and since has added nine more victories.

Four other top-30 players previously gave their commitments to play in the SHO, which runs the week before the Masters: No. 12 Lee Westwood of England, No. 13 Ernie Els of South Africa, No. 16 Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland and No. 26 Alvaro Quiros of Spain. The SHO also has commitments from former world No. 1 Greg Norman and five-time Ryder Cup competitor Darren Clarke.

The deadline for players to commit to the event is March 27.
