I remember the OF/SLC game like it was yesterday.  That was Jeff Granger's senior year.  OF had the lead late in that game, but errors and baserunning mistakes killed us.  I still think OF was the best 3A team at the state tournament that year.

This was the first of 2 trips to the State Tournament for Coach Chuck Young,

First of BC's 3 trips to state.

Remeber going to see BC play Robstown in the State Championship game, remember that we got no-hit.

I was in Jr. High when these guys made this incredible run, So I grew up watching most of them play in the leagues above me. Still look up to a lot of these guys.

I remember going to watch this game as well. They played at Blinn. This was a heartbreaking loss in which BC had the lead for most of the game, and on a close play at first late in the game, Freshmen 1B Craig Darder pulled his foot off the bag while digging the ball. El Campo went on to score 2 runs and won the ball game. Darder went on to play at Tarleton State, and last I heard was living in Stephenville and went into coaching.

I was on that Orangefield team that beat HF.  We played at WOS.  The next week we got killed by Halletsville.  Guy hit a homerun from Halletsville that I dont think has hit the ground yet!!

I need to watch a series this year like the LC-M/PN-G a few years ago or the BC/Jasper series. Best baseball I've ever seen. On some levels though it was some of the worst.

Intense is the word brother!

You have Waco Connally playing Orangefield in 87-88. I am really thinking the Waco schools, Connally, Robinson, and LaVega were in region 1 that year as LaVega region 1, Wylie region 2, Bellville region 3, and Sinton region 4 were the state tournament reps. In the region 3 semis, Bellville beat Kirbyville 10-4 while Sealy beat Woodville 12-11. Bellville went on to beat Sealy 5-1 to claim the region title before losing to Arthur Rhodes and the LaVega Pirates 5-4 on a walk off bloop single at the state tourney.
