i don't really understand all of this... it seems like a huge overreaction for what was a pretty minor comment.  i realize he'd had some issues before, but it seems like players of all sports make comments worse than this on a pretty regular basis with little or no punishment at all.

Ex-girlfriend was hot, but she did not deserve the remarks.  However I disagree with the release of the player.

i think it's safe to say that it wasn't his remark that made the team not want him back... he must have been a pretty big jerk for hockey players not to like him.

Yea. I've heard that he wasn't that well-liked by his teammates even before that...
