CARTHAGE BULLDOGS

2019 Record: 16-0 Overall, 5-0 District

Class 4A, Division I State Champion

 

Well, what can you say about one of the newest teams under the SETXsports.com umbrella.  Three state championships in four year in Class 4A, Division I.  Now, Scott Surratt's group will be competing in Class 4A, Division II.  While Surratt returns several key pieces on offense, only a couple of starters return on defense.

 

COACHING

Head Coach: Scott Surratt

Assistant Coaches: Darren Preston (Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator), Dennis McLaughlin (Offensive Coordinator), Ryan Marion, Demond Horsley, Zeke Dixon, Mike Morgan, Dalton Longenbaugh, Micah Smith, Mark Brown

 

OFFENSE

Six starters return to the Carthage offense in 2020.  Senior quarterback Kai Horton returns to guide the Bulldog offense.  The 10-4A-I Offensive MVP, senior running back Mason Courtney, also returns.  Junior receiver Braden Wade, sophomore wide out Montrel Hatton and senior Craig McNew, as well as senior tight end Montrell Smith (1st team all-district), will comprise the Bulldog receiver squad.  Senior guard Tee Kellum (1st team all-district) will lead the Carthage offensive line.  

 

DEFENSE

Two starters return to the Carthage defense in 2020.  Senior defensive lineman Kylon Lister (2nd team all-district)will be counted on to lead the Bulldog defensive line.  Junior linebacker Kip Lewis will head the Bulldog linebacker corp while senior safety Austin Morgan (2nd team all-district) will anchor the secondary.

Special teams assignments will be determined at fall practice.
