KINGWOOD PARK PANTHERS

2018 Record: 6-6 Overall, 5-2 District

3rd Place in District 9-5A-I

 

The chances that the Kingwood Park Panthers would make a second straight trip to the playoffs looked a bit dim as Clayton Maple's Panthers limped into district with a 1-2 season mark.  However, once the bell rang for District 9-5A-I play, the Panthers went in full sprint mode, going 5-2 and gaining the coveted playoff spot.  Quite a bit of depth returns for the Panthers as 13 starters return for the 2019 season in a bid to send the Panthers to the playoffs for the third year in a row.

Assistant Coaches: Mark Miller (Defensive Coordinator), Bruce Cox (Offensive Coordinator), Jeff Knight (Defensive Line), James Showers (Linebackers), Greg Baldon (Defensive Backs), Kyle Grimes (Wide Receivers), Dominique Allen (Offensive Line), Chris Buechner (Running Backs), David Feliciano (Quarterbacks/Defensive Backs), Oscar Vargas (Defensive Lines/Offensive Lines), Michael Starkey (Linebackers/Running Backs), Josh Jackson (Wide Receivers/Defensive Backs)

Offense:

Seven starters return to the Kingwood Park offense in 2019.  Junior quarterback Hudson Dezell will lead the Panther attack.  Toting the rock for the Panthers will be senior running back Desmond Benjamin and junior running back Juan Garcia.  Senior wide receiver Canen Adrian (2nd team all-district) will lead the KP passing attack which will also include junior H-back Brady Cole. Senior Luke Pavlat (1st team all-district) will lead the Panther offensive line which will also feature seniors Zedekiah Riley, Josue Campuzano and Brian Bleier.

Defense:

6 starters return to the Kingwood Park defense in 2019.  Up front, seniors Ronan Keeler and Sean Dietrich will lead the way.  Seniors Christian Leierer and Thomas Kirby will lead a Panther linebacker corp which will also include senior Jaylan McAdams and junior Caleb Sowell.  An experienced secondary returns for Kingwood Park as seniors Cramer Branscum, Christian Smith and Rik Hrishka and junior Brandon Acosta will be patrolling things behind the line.

Special Teams:

Senior Gage Guerra will do both the place kicking and punting for Kingwood Park while the returners will be finalized in summer camp.
