District 21-3A Tennis

This years disrtict 21-3A will be a close race for the team championship. Hardin-Jefferson and Kirbywille have both won for about 20 years now in their own districts, but now they are joined together and other schools will be in the running too. Who will take the cake and who will will win in boys and girls singles, doubles, mixed doubles?

BC sophomore Hunter Gothia finished second in the "B" Singles bracket at the OC Tennis Tournament Friday.  Jude Lane of LCM finished second in the "A" bracket.  In "B" doubles Trey Batchan and J.R. Fuller of WOS took second.  In girls "A" doubles, the team of Erin Kelley and Katy Talbot of OF also finished second as did Lacie Ener of BC in girls "B" singles.

Yes, Matt Minick of Hardin-Jefferson beat Jude Lane in the final 6-4 6-0.

Matt Deaver of Silsbee was not at the last tournament.  He was competing in the 3A regional team tennis.  He won both of his singles matches, beating an 18 Superchamp (for those that are familiar with USTA rankings) 6-3 6-3 from Center in one of the two matches he played.  Matt is a 16 Superchamp.  I think Matt will take the 21-3A singles championship.  He has already beaten Minick once this year 7-5 6-1 in the semis of the Lamar tournament.

Good observation, but you also have to put in to play that Minick is the only one who has even given Deavers a run for his money. Deavers has been running over everybody. I think Deavers might be scarred of what Minick could do. I still think fundemently Deavers is a better player, but Minick will be ready for this match. It will be a great match to watch. And now that Minick has won a tournament that takes some pressure off of him. I might take off to go watch this match. Wouldn't it be great if they met in the district, regional, and state final. These two are definately capable. What do you think?

And i just got news that if Minick and Deaver play again, it will be in the district tournament. Both of their schools have scheduled them at different tournaments through the year. Who does this help Minick or Deaver?

Deavers and Minick will meet in the finals, but Deavers will win, no doubt about it.  Deavers is a 16 superchamp and Minick is a 18 champ.  There is a big difference between these two levels of tennis.  Me being a former 16 champ, know that Deavers will have no trouble beating Minick

Hj doesn't have a boys doubles team. They have put their other good boys in mixed doubles. Or at least that is what i heard.
