It was a very good game! Silsbee played the best soccer of the season holding off a talented Livingston team. Silsbee played as a team. Deaver had a beautiful second half shot for the Silsbee score. Great game tigers and keep up the good teamwork!

Deaver from Silsbee has not missed a PAT this year so far. He is 2 of 5 on field goals, one of the misses was blocked by Dibol. Has the game winning field goal against Kelly. Also his kickoffs are landing between the 5 and 10 except when told to keep it away from the returners.

Yes, Matthew Deaver is kicking for the team. But as for playing soccer, he will be on the field for the soccer team! He will also bring home the 3A state tennis medal!!

I think the biggest fight will be to see who is seeded on the opposite end of the draw from Deavers. If your in his half, the furthest you will make will be the semis! That is a given!

I saw an article about Matthew Deaver of Silsbee in the Silsbee Bee. He has joined the Texans U-16 team. He made the Div 1 top level team. They will be playing in the National Cup in April and May.

Matt Deaver of Silsbee was not at the last tournament. He was competing in the 3A regional team tennis. He won both of his singles matches, beating an 18 Superchamp (for those that are familiar with USTA rankings) 6-3 6-3 from Center in one of the two matches he played. Matt is a 16 Superchamp. I think Matt will take the 21-3A singles championship. He has already beaten Minick once this year 7-5 6-1 in the semis of the Lamar tournament.

I agree, its not fair to the 3A schools to have to compete with the 4A schools. Just take a look at the bench and you can see the difference! When the 4A schools can put fresh legs on the field to give the starters a break, they definitely have the second half advantage! The second half is where a most of the Silsbee games were lost against the largers schools, cut the game in half and these games would be very different. Even the best of players cant give 100% for a full 80 minutes! I think that the playoffs should consist of the top 2 4a schools and the top 3A school in the districts. Give the 3A schools something to strive for! Then let the 3A winners compete against each other in the playoffs, while the 4A schools compete in their own playoff.

I have seen both teams play and I believe that Lumberton will take this one.

Well, the results are in for the Cathedral tournament and the Lamar Tournament. Matt Deaver won both tournaments easily. Minick was not at the Cathedral tournament but he was at the Lamar tournament. Deaver beat Minick in the semi-finals.

I have to agree! Opened the Enterprise to read the scores, looked over the sports section twice, thinking I had just overlooked the scores! But, low and behold I didn't miss them! They weren't there!!!!!

dont feel bad LCM, your athletic department is not the only one that doesnt come out to watch the soccer games. There is very little support for soccer in Silsbee other than the parents of the players.

Matthew Deaver of Silsbee stands a good chance of bringing home the 3A state title this year.
