GSF into the ACE State Championship

    The Good Samaritan Fellowship Hornets will play for the ACE state championship on Saturday at 2:00 in Erath, Louisiana.  GSF beat Baton Rouge CHEF 12 - 8 in their half of the semi-final bracket.  They will face the Harvest Time Christian Academy Lions in the championship.  These two faced each other earlier in the season at Silsbee with GSF taking it 12 - 11 on March 16.
    Association of Christian Educators (ACE) is a group of home-school and small Christian schools.  It is based primarily out of Louisiana, with roughly 37 schools/groups participating.  GSF is the only school from Texas.  The roster for GSF is as follows:

The GSF Hornets outlast CHEF Baton Rouge in high-scoring affair, 12-8

The GSF Hornets and CHEF Baton Rouge lit up the scoreboard on Thursday as they combined for 20 runs. In the end, GSF Hornets won the offensive battle 12-8 in seven innings.

Hitters on both sides were strong at the plate as the teams combined for 15 hits, including three extra base hits.

Matthew Moore had two extra-base hits for the GSF Hornets. He singled in the second inning, tripled in the fourth inning, and doubled in the sixth inning.

Moore got the win for the GSF Hornets. He allowed four runs over four innings. Moore struck out three, walked four and gave up one hit.

The top of the first saw CHEF Baton Rouge take an early lead, 2-0. A single by Joseph Landry, scoring Stephen Normand and Trent Kinchen started the inning off.

The GSF Hornets posted one run in each of the first, second, fifth, and sixth. In the first, the GSF Hornets scored on an RBI triple by Luke Lozoya, plating Jacob Eason.

The game was never in doubt after the fourth, as the GSF Hornets scored eight runs on three errors, a groundout by Conner Stevens, and three singles.

A two-run fifth inning helped bring CHEF Baton Rouge within six. A passed ball and a passed ball fueled CHEF Baton Rouge's comeback. The GSF Hornets stopped the rally after Daniel Bean got Steven Haley to strike out.

The GSF Hornets scored one run in the fifth inning, and then followed it up with one more in the sixth. In the fifth, the GSF Hornets scored on an error, scoring Shane Standley.

Four runs in the top of the sixth helped CHEF Baton Rouge close its deficit to 11-8. A walk by N, an RBI single by Patrick Hardy, a fielder's choice, and an error set off CHEF Baton Rouge rally. Finally, Shane Standley got Steven H to ground out to end the threat.
