1. Looks like it just rolled out. I'm sure the links will come up gradually. Looks SOOOO much better though. I really like the whole re-branding thing they did. The logo and letters and all look great.
2.
That's my Flickr account.  Those are old google images that I was messing with...wishful thinking on my part.  I do post any photos I do find of the stadium there.
:D Once I thought about it, I figured that probably belonged to someone on this board. lol should have known.
3. Nevermind, I think someone did those in photoshop. I got excited when I saw the bowl though.  :-\
4. Hmmmmm Football Flickr Account
5. Maybe the thing to do would have been to build the Athletic Complex where the practice field is, and then mount the scoreboard to the side of the Montagne. Hindsight I guess.
6. I hope they design those luxury boxes to where they can expand around them. That's really the best place for a large section of new seating when they get ready for the FBS move. They should really put a bowl down there. That would make the stadium look like a big time program's IMO. If only multi-million dollar donations grew on trees ...  :-\ If you haven't taken a look at the cam in a while check it out. The brick looks really good on the Athletic Center, and now the stadium columns and bathrooms/concession stands match it. Still a massive pile of dirt on the field so I'm guessing it will be a while before turf project starts.
7.
Of course, Lamar is one of the few schools remaining in the league that does not webcast their sporting events - think the only ones who don't nowadays are Nicholls, SLU and Lamar. Local television is nice, but web casts are the bare minimum nowadays for legitimate Div I programs who are not controlled by TV contracts. Live stats and audio were the minimums of three years ago.
I'm not sure you could come up with a worse idea for a fledgling football program trying to get people into the stadium.
8. Who wants to play for those gator herders anyway?  ::)
9. The stadium is getting there ... that's for sure. Brick is going up on the face of the Athletic Complex, looks like a lot of the dirt work is done, majority of the new seats are in except for what I guess will be the gold section ... she's really taking shape.
10.
LCM2LU- you must have NEVER attended a LU basketball game.
I haven't actually. That's good to hear though.
11.
gyros from campus corner are the bomb.had my first one 20yrs ago and still pick one up from time to time.
The kabob burger rocks the house too ... but I digress lol.
12. I've been thinking about this. Did you know Lamar had a fight song and an alma mater? I've never heard either one of these before. Honestly I didn't know they existed. Point being, with the reemergence of football, Lamar needs some traditions. Our own "rock chalk jayhawk" if you will. Our own "dotting the i" or "yell practice" or "bonfire". Those types of traditions are what bonds a student body, a community, an alumni base, etc. They create passion for a program. They give it identity. It becomes something honorable to defend against rivals, and to share with friends. We have nothing like that.  If you meet someone else from Lamar, what common practice or experience can you relate to them with? The gyros at Kampus Korner? Many will say that winning breeds tradition, and I can't argue that. I would just say that tradition and passion have a lot to do with winning too. So how about a little collective brain storming? Start with something simple. What is something that Lamar can do say before the McNeese or SHSU game every year, that will get the student body, the team, the faculty, the alumni, and the community excited and involved? Maybe students and alumni march together from campus to the stadium before the game and everyone touches the big head for good luck? Maybe everyone gathers and they smash a Dan Rather pinata before kickoff or something? Ideas
13. Am I blind or did they not list the RB from PNG on the roster?
14. I just went and got the bird's eye from the top of the Montagne's back stairs. I'm really stoked now lol. Just looking out at it imagining that scoreboard up there looking over the field with brand new turf and the new press box ... it's going to be great! Looks like they've been working on the seating too. A lot of dirt work going on on the field and the south endzone. As for where the players come out UNLV, I can tell you that it looks like they are putting in sidewalks that wrap around the hill side and go down to the playing field on both sides. They both start in the middle of the endzone on top of the hil and end at the field level next to the bleachers on their respective sides. I took a couple pics on the cell phone but they don't do it justice really. The only thing I'm concerned about now is that everything is going to look new and clean and then there's the dingy Montagne looming overhead. Maybe Neches FCU could donate the money to have that thing pressure washed and mirror glazed!  ;D
15. I just want to say that Neches FCU rocks because no one has mentioned them yet.  ;D
16. $500? Seriously? $100 to park at the Montagne? Guess there won't be any actual students tailgating! lol
17. I know I'm not the only one wondering about this  ;) Anyone heard any rumors or have any sources with info on fans tailgating in the Montagne? Will it be allowed? If so, will it *gasp* be dry??? Will there be people smoking brisquet and ribs? Will they let me eat some? Will I be able to pelt SHSU's bus with red eggs when they arrive? Where can I find the red eggs? These are just a few of the many questions I have.  ???
18. Thank you LCM! I knew you could make the right decision the 2nd time around! BTW he will accept for sure. He lives across the street from the school and I know he's wanted to get back to Little Cypress.
19. I like and respect coach Harrell a lot. He coached there when I was in school and he is what I'd call an authoritarian style of coach. Whether or not that is a good thing depends on how your kids react to that really. that said ... If LCM passes on coach Crouch AGAIN, they would be foolish. He has been successful everywhere he's been including LCM. The man knows more about Xs and Os football (and just sports in general) than anyone I've ever had the pleasure of talking to. If the board is still holding some kind of grudge against him, they need to let it die and do what is best for their program and not their egos.
