  1. Now if we could only get a reliable source......
  2. yep. low level Int'l league perhaps
  3. He cannot read anywhere NEAR high school level much less college. How can his handlers live with themselves?
  4. Butts kicked they tok the young team lightly and it cost them Hmmmm....sure you don't wanna give GCM some -- even a little -- credit for simply outplaying BH? that is a compliment they did what they needed to do they got it done Sorry, I assumed "taking someone lightly" meant the same thing it has always everywhere meant in any conversation I've ever heard it to mean: a superior team underestimated a weaker team. If you didn't mean that, it would be the first time in my life it didn't n\mean that. Poor assumption on my part.

  6. How's that Moody stud pitcher who led them to 5A state title? I lost track of him at U of H. Maybe a senior by now?
  7. There is NO DOUBT BH was the pre-season favorite to cakewalk thru 19-4A. Completely bolstered by chatter here.
  8. Here's a two-fer 2008-09: Barbers Hill..... ...and with someone already touting this team out of all sense of proportion for next year on another thread, I nominate them for 2009-10, too.
  9. Agree, DeSoto's #2 big was not impressive. Never said so. Said that that by playing both bigs at same time gave Desoto the desired matchup. Great coaching move. Also, CH's big kid is NOT their best player. The best player (Glover) got game planned out of the touches by his own coach.
  10. The kid took over cuz DeSoto subbed in their #2 big with #1 big at same time and the new matchup took CH's best defender (Glover) off him. Then he went wild. Outcoached. Plus CH's Glover is a STUD. But not enough touches ON PURPOSE. Bad coaching decision. Best coach won. Defensive contests in pretty much all sports are boring.
  11. Milson (Cedar Hill) DRAMATICALLY outcoached by Dyer (DeSoto). Why in the wide, wide world of sports didn't CH's best player (Glover) get more touches? Milson INTENTIONALLY did that. Very bad coaching decision. Dyer's rep as one of the top coaches in Texas bolstered.
  12. 19-4A All-district selections Coach of the Year: Justin Reese (Crosby) MVP: Kendrae Carter (Crosby) OFFENSIVE: Dewayne Wade (North Forest) 1st TEAM HIGH SCHOOL 2nd TEAM HIGH SCHOOL *Bennie Batiste CE King *Emonte McMillan CE King *Patrick Johnson CE King *Andre Mitchell Crosby *Josh Williams CE King Andy Walker Dayton Matt Guillory Crosby AJ Dugat Dayton Elijah Chambers Crosby *Ryan Croy Kingwood Park MJ Mathis Crosby *Adrian Johnson Kingwood Park *Brandon Taylor Galena Park Jesse De La Torre Galena Park *Ryan Hagan Galena Park Chris Rios Galena Park *Kolby Chandler Kingwood Park ?Andre Sloan North Forest ?Shammond Gary North Forest ?Johnny Pope North Forest * returning next yr (I think) ? do not know if they are returning who will they finish ahead of next year that they finished behind this yr? why?
  13. me too! they can say they don't recruit, but i am not convinced. just does not seem right to me for them to be able to pull athletes from anywhere in the world and compete against teams that must play kids who live in the area. or am i missing something here? nope. You're missing nothing. THAT is the problem with privates in UIL.
  14. De Soto's coach has been one of the best coaches in Texas for a long time. No surprise here. OK, maybe a mild surprise.
  15. Let me make it simple for you Strake cool-aid drinkers. Here's a list of localities in greater Houston: Pearland.....heck include Galveston, too ALL of Houston city limits, Clear Lake to Kingwood, Nearly Katy to Channelview Humble Woodlands and all places in between Kid lives with both parents at ANY single home in ANY one of these areas. My 2 questions for you kool-aid drinkers: 1) Can he attend Strake and play varsity sport? 2) Name the public schools who can do that? Case dismissed.
  16. Wow. where to begin to correct the errors here? OK how about here: Strake filed a lawsuit to get into UIL. Your other "facts" have equal accuracy.
  17. strake doesn't recruit? HA! why not just say you don't get caught and others do the same and you do it just to keep up. And pleeeeeeeze don't gimme that "private company gives scholarships on a blind basis without regard to athletic ability" garbage. Its widely known. Yes, others do it. But Strake DOES do it. And why would a competing coach say so in print. Would come off as sour grapes. Politically correct speech rules.
  18. The talent and all the tools are there. It's the mental part of the game that's kicking out butt right now. No emotion, no confidence, and just a bad approach to the game overall. Swinging for the fences, throwing batting practice fastballs with a pitchers count (0-2 and 1-2), making excuses for everything that doesn't go our way, focusing on nothing but the negatives, just to name a few. All easy fixes and correctable with the right positive mental attitude!!!!!! I have no idea if the diagnosis (mental/attitude/no emotion/no confidence) is correct, but if it is, this is a HUGE problem and NOT easily fixed. Such problems are a growing cancer 95% of the time it occurs. Reason: Such things do not crop up in a vaccuum. Something or, more likely, someone(s) triggered this. It's usually irrevesible. How many times have you looked back and said,"Wow, if so-and-so could've simply lived up to his potential" ? That's probably the most common refrain heard in ALL sports, ALL the time. Time will tell if this plays out like 95% or the other 5%.
  19. JMT, there are sister sites to this? Please provide links to Houston, Dallas and others.
  20. Situation:Normal 2-parent family, everybody lives in same household. The son, a 2-sport varsity athlete, is currently a 5A 11th grader who has continuously attended the same 5A Region 2 high school since beginning of 9th grade. Family has continuously resided in that 5A, Region 2 high school's attendance zone since beginning of 9th grade. He's been playing both football and baseball on varsity since 9th grade. Yes, a good athlete! Family is now moving 25 miles away to new high school enrollment zone (4A, Region 3 high school). On April 1,2009, old home will sell and they will move out. Same day they will buy and move into new home inside the 4A, Region 3 high school's enrollment zone. Desire is to commute to and attend old school for remainder of this year and finish varsity baseball season at old school. Then, next August, as a 12th grader, begin attending and playing varsity sports at new school. 1. Can he finish current varsity season at old school while living in new home? 2. Will he be eligible to play varsity football next fall at new school (his senior year)? 3. Must any signatures from any high schools be obtained to get "yes" answers to either #1 or #2? 4. Who's signature's? Old school? New school? Competing district teams at old or new school or both? 5. Where can I find UIL rules that address this?
