Uh, they do participate in UIL... I'm sure the students are encouraged to do solo & ensemble contests and the past few years, Port Arthur Memorial has participated in UIL Concert & Sight-reading contest where in 2016, they earned a rating of 2 (excellent) on stage and earned straight 1s (superior) in sight-reading.

Hello everyone. This is the official thread of the UIL Region 10 Marching Band Contest. Below is the schedule for the contest. It will be at PNG Stadium on October 15. There will be a $5 entrance fee for the first time so be aware of this when attending your child's band or if you are just a spectator. This is a state year for the 4A, and 6A classifications. For the first time in since 2009, I will not be attending to record the entire contest. Also, my brother, who has helped record the contest with me or by himself no longer lives in Texas. Another school year has started and another marching band season is upon us. This year, 4A and 6A high schools are eligible to qualify for the state marching band contest. Who are some of favorites to advance out of Region 10? We know West Brook will because they are the ONLY 6A high school in Region 10 remaining. All the Baytown schools have moved over to Region 19 and we gained Huffman-Hargrave High School from Region 9. What are the marching shows your band is performing for the year?

No problem! I when I saw Bridge City was going to be at Galena Park, i thought they would beat at least half the bands there. They will should be a force to reckon with for years to come in Region 10 if they keep the staff they have now. Unfortunately when you get to Area marching contest, the 4As in North Texas (Region 4) are a different beast altogether. I'll be in PNG in about 2 weeks. I hope my batteries don't die before the final band. I missed the North Shore band Saturday because both of them ran out.

Hi all, in my boredom and curiosity, I contacted the UIL Music office and they were able to provide me with UIL Music ratings from all regions of Texas going back to the 1984-85 school year. I put all of Region 10's ratings in a spreadsheet and tediously arranged it so you can see a historical perspective of ratings for both marching and concert/sight-reading contests, head director, and selections played for concert/sight-reading contest. * there is a gap for 1988-89 as the files for region 10 that year are non-existent. * Other ratings gaps might be due to a school not participating in UIL music activities during that time or participated in a different region.
