  1. As of Friday, Bolton was the only one they have interviewed. They are still doing thorough reviews of the candidates and doing a great job of it. They really want to do this the right way...I commend them for their efforts.
  2. I would hope that a coach would not really get on these message boards and actually post. It is ok to get on here and read to get a feel for the community but it is very unhealthy to post. I wish you well Young Coach but the great detail you have of Mr. Garrett is unbelievably detailed for someone that is from around here or knows anything about PNG Football and the Pride and Tradition that is expected. We respect your desire to improve your status from where you are at...hell you wouldnt be human. But let me be clear, the Expectations are great and if you are chosen you will be expected to perform quickly and the pressure will unimagineable! So good luck to you but I would hope that we dont see you post on here anymore unless you want to know more about the school, the traditions and the living in what we like to call Cherokee Nation. Good luck and I truly wish you well!!!
  3. I respect your service has a military man and thank you for that. I am not bashing just voicing my opinion that I want my school to choose someone that has more experience as either a OC/DC or Head Coach and by the way 10th grade OC compared to a 3A High School...listen to what your are saying..I know a couple of 3A schools around here that would dominate any 10 grade team..Good luck to you and if it is meant to be we will support you but this is what this forum is for.. to discuss thoughts on who should be the next Chief of the Tribe.
  4. Hey Young Coach...So you are going to tell me that when you coached at Shepton High School that was not the 9th grade campus. Anyone can look up Shepton and find out it is not a High School.. We at PNG do a lot of research on the candidates. Were you not the coordinator there at Shepton campus????
  5. Gettin back on topic... Chris Garrett is being interviewed for the PNG position. Interesting choice..TE's coach at Duncanville and only coordinator experience was at the 9th grade campus....Maybe he will be a good administrator since he has his masters and that is what is really important.
  6. The guy on the list that is interviewing with PNG this week is Chris Garret...I dont know why. A TE's coach who's only coordinator experience was at Duncanville's 9th grade campus...Wow, but he does have his masters. We are really going after the right folks.....
  7. Also on a correction of Jerry Vance being young. Doesnt mean he is not a great coach because he is...In fact for those of you that played in the 80's w, 348, 349, 332 Tackle Trap you already know the offense he runs. [Hidden Content]
  8. There are only a couple names of interest.. Philip Danaher....Age 61????..Great Success but end of his career..might I remind you of Lou Holtz and his run at SC. Jerry Vance...Proven winner with Slot T Run Run and Run some more offense. Should be in Top 3 Brandon Faircloth... Odessa Permian OC - Coonass is right...There was an asst Head coach ahead of him Critchlow.. Fired from previous job for DWI Satcher...former PNG grad, College Exp, Defensive mind, Success at the HS Level with Bay City (State Finalist)& Clear Lake (similar talent makeup) State Semifinalist, District Champs, Top 10 Defense in the state, Bayou Bowl Allstar game Defensive Coor. for this year....No Interview Other than that very disappointing...If you disagree look these guys up on the internet...Junior High Coaches, Former Coaches, Position coaches, Not the jaw dropping list we thought we would see..It looks as though the masters requirement did in fact hurt us.
  9. The Satcher guy has a pretty good resume himself. He is a former PNG grad that played under D. Malone. He has coached in college at Northwestern State and with David Baliff at Southwest Texas when Baliff was the DC. Baliff by the way is the new head coach at Rice who just went 9-3. He dropped down to HS where he coached offensive line at Brazosport before moving to Bay City to coach the defensive line and secondary when they went to the state championship in 2003 or 4. He then went to Clear Lake where they went to the state semifinals for the first time in school history. He led the defense as DC for Clear Lake this year to a district title and one of the top 10 defenses in the state. He has also been invited to coach in the Bayou bowl this year.
  10. Interviews will not take place until after the close date. Just so everyone realizes that the PNG job is not the only one out there you can go to the TASA website and see all the openings in the state. PNG is the last to hire which will make it tough to get a great coach. Most of the coaches will have already accepted positions out there that are more attractive. You can also look at the attached website for coaches salaries to get an idea of where PNG stands. Coaching Jobs in the State [Hidden Content] Coaches Salaries from 2005 [Hidden Content]
