Still hold firm belief that we are severely limited by line play this year, the line has struggled mightily in every game this year to open consistent run lanes
-
Huffman seems like the team to beat.. that one is going to be a heavyweight matchup, but i think BC matches well with huffman. Think BC wins this district undefeated and can hopefully steal a win in the playoffs 💪🏻

Been the story of the year😂 Subpar oline play and angry fans thinking that we can run the spread… when we cant even runblock properly BUT GIVE ME BC BY 28+ friday. I think they call the dogs off is why it wont be even worse than that.. im a BC fan for the rest of the year, can i hop on the bandwagon or is it all full?👀

Along with longview pine tree that got moved in there. Its a brutal district to play bidistrict wise

Yup, one of the things we agree on there!

Yeah the freshman are fun to watch. Sucks i cant make it tomorrow /: I figure most of them will be starting on varsity next year. No offense meant to anyone but i still believe dubois is handicapped by personnel this year. I just dont think the horses are there which is limiting his playcalling.. I do think he could do better at inspiring, and getting participation but thats yet to be seen in my opinion He is at all the freshman games so he knows whats going on with the group. Ill hold my wanting to change coaches until the end of next year.. See what kind of product he is able to field with one of the most talented groups to come through vidor in a while.. Whatever happens happens this year, its been said by quite a few people that this year we were going to be down, so i do not think the fault lies with just dubois. Think its just a perfect storm of being down, Jeff leaving, and dubois trying to learn how to get his kids to play hard, and increase participation. Just be patient, see what happens over the next year or two and see if the results are different because i really think there is a plan in place for this group to be the change that alot of people want. So let us vidor fans be patient and see what happens with them.

Agree with every point you make. Freshness wouldnt hurt, but buy in is important. Replacing jeff was going to be an uphill battle. i dont think alot of people realize what jeff was to vidor athletics, and how hard replacing him would be.. If jeff wanted to he could run for mayor and win, thats just how well liked he is by the community, and dubois has to find a way to win the support of the kids and community. Dubois is nice as can be, he just has to find a way to get support.

Might be the case; it might not be. Regardless of offensive system the grind will be the same. “Tired of getting beat up at rb”, as if they wont get beat up at rb, or receiver in a spread style system. Football is a grind regardless of system. I believe the coaches will get it turned around and things will improve, numbers will go up, and things will settle down.

All i think that is happening is some fall out with some of the kids because of jeffs departure. Nothing at all to do with dubois, or the other coaches. Think its strictly the change with jeff leaving, because i know some of the kids said they wont play for anyone but Jeff, and if thats their mindset no amount of trying to get buy in from the new coach is going to work.

People throwing a fit over a down year ragging on a coach who had to replace the heart and soul of vidor athletics, LITERALLY, is crazy. Theres going to be growing pains as we move on from the jeff mathews era, and people need to realize that. Dubois needs a few years to instill his vision and get buy in. Freshman group has ALOT of kids, as does JV, so obviously theres some belief in whats going on, just not at the varsity level for some reason.. hmmm
-
I respectfully disagree with that. These are kids. Ur job as a coach is to lead and inspire, not be a harda**. If kids do not like a coach they will not play for them, which is why i left the program when stephenson was around, as did a few people i was coming up with. No disrespect to Stephenson, but his coaching style did not resonate with alot of the kids, some stuck it out to play for jeff, some did not. Jeff was well liked, kids wanted to play for him. Dubois may not have the buy in from some of the juniors and seniors, hence the lower number this year, but that could all change. Replacing jeffs personality, coaching and management style is a hard ask for ANYONE to come take this over after he left.

Yeah i hear he is not well liked though… rumors as always get stirred up, and I think they are working in a new offensive scheme truthfully, but starting with a new group of freshman instead of trying to implement it in one offseason with the varsity. Theres rumor of jeff making a return, but think that rumor has been going around since the day he announced his retirement😂 not sure if theres any validity to that at all or just speculation Im hopeful for the next few years, dubois just has to find a way to get involvement from the rest of the kids in the school, and i think he can do it, but all we can do is give him time

Gonna go on a limb and say vidor keeps this close they clean up the miscues on offense, and make this a game. But gonna go with Huffman by 10

Huffman (38) @ Lumberton (7) - FINAL

Think BC and Huffman will be the teams fighting for first. Will see first hand how huffman looks this friday -
I fully agree, i wish there was more participation, but like Tiger33 said, i think the style of play does discourage some kids to play for vidor, but if we wont open up the system, coach dubois needs to find a way to connect with those kids, and sell his vision in order to get participation. Thats one thing i liked about jeff. When i was there jeff was always talking to the kids, always in the halls. He was seen, and heard all the time and i think it definitely spurred some more involvement than what we are seeing. (Just my opinion in the involvement part) I have no kids in the system, and nobody i know at the school anymore so im not sure if dubois is the same way, but i do see dubois at all the football events, so hes definitely there and interacting with the lowerclassmen that way. (I only go to football and some baseball so i use that as my example) I like dubois, and hes a heck of a guy, so lets see what he can scheme up in the next few years and see what happens(: Im confident about it, and i still encourage the people who are dissing on the program to go watch a Thursday night home game and formulate ur own opinion about the upcoming years of pirate football.
