Having a turf field does not educate one child. If a school wants turf let private donors pay for it. Use tax dollars to actually educate our kids. That fancy stadium at PN-G being paid for by the tax payers will not educate one kid and didn't make PN-G play any better. Priorities!!

What I would do -- and have done -- is call them and invite them to apply. During this conversation one could feel them out whether they are truly, or not, interested. I'm sure they would ask questions such as talent, community support, etc. Just the mere fact that people think enough of them to call might impress them enough to apply. Or if they aren't interested they might suggest someone who would be a good candidate. I've always thought as a taxpayer, hiring an unknown might end up wasting my tax dollars. So since it's my tax dollars that will pay for this coach I have the right, obligation, to try and make sure my tax dollars are not wasted. I'm going to let an unknown with no head coaching experience get his feet wet at another school on other people's tax dollar. I try, not always successful, for the sure thing. This means an experienced head coach with a winning record. If anyone personally makes calls to prospective candidates, don't forget to call the Everman coach after their run is over. Or contact board members and the Principal and Supt. and tell about these two coaches. But, again, don't limit yourself to just these 2. Again, and I can't say it loud enough: Wait for Gilmer's run to be over and someone personally contact this coach. And remember, it doesn't have to be someone associated with the school district. As I look at it, any taxpayer can make this contact and see if he's interested. thats what im talkin' bout!!

A Lot of people opine with their feelings instead of careful thought. But their opinions are what makes these forums move and there's nothing wrong with that. I think like you. Da Jags will be lucky to keep it to 2 TD's in which I predicted. But, on any given game day one never knows what's going to happen.

I don't think you are limiting yourself when you go out and contact quality coaches. Sure you accept applications. But sometimes it's smart to invite someone to apply that might not normally do it.

Why don't the fans urge the powers that be to contact D. Malone ask him to come back? But since he got a raw deal the first time, it might take some persuading. But I think he's a big enough man to forgive and forget. Just a thought.

PS - Just a thought for conversation. Wasn't the DC in question on the staffs of DeRouen and August? As the DC for DeRouen as I recall. How were the defenses then? Correct me if I'm wrong about the DC being associated with these two HC's.

What's the inside scoop here? Did he accept this willingly or was he forced by the school board?

I've already said there is no agenda here. Just the facts as I see them. Defense usually gets you deep into the playoffs. I'm just stating my opinion why a deep run will probably not happen. But it won't be the players fault. When one can't deal with facts they usually scream "Agenda!" I'm hearing that quite often. These same might want to get on a site that facts won't get in the way. Just my opinion.

Burnett would make a good defensive coach.

Sorry to disappoint, but there is no agenda here. The question was will Ned go deep into the playoffs. Again, defense wins championships. My opinion is the DC is the problem. Do your home work and check the defensive standings over the past ten years. That's just my opinion as what is needed to be done. Now if this upsets your sensibilities and all you can do is state violations of site rules (show them to me) when opinions are stated, then you might want to go to a less sensitive site. But I can also see why a png fan would want him to stay. Maybe a hidden agenda there? Just a thought for conversation.

Brubaker: So you're an expert because you have posted on this board before? Interesting! Check the defensive standings over these last many years and you'll find what some are talking about. Replace the DC and you'll immediately become a serious contender to make it deeper into the playoffs. But why do I have to tell you? Your brain cells equal the amount of posts you have. Um, I don't think I would be bragging too much. Do you first post guys have some kind of a club where the oxygen deprives the brain of rational thought? Nice one Smitty, been around here long???

Let's face facts: Nederland would not have made the playoffs this year if they had not added a fourth team. As long as Nederland keeps their DC then they will be hard pressed make the playoffs much less go deep into them. Defense wins championships and this DC's defense's has consistently been year after year at the bottom of the defensive standings. Why the HC keeps him is a mystery. I guess what I am saying is don't get your hopes up for a deep playoff run.
