  1. I understand what your saying LTrain11. Kids make mistakes. Part of football or any other sports. Bottom line mistakes need to be eliminated. And that falls on the coaches as much as it does the players to correct things.
  2. Didn't know that coaching staff didn't have a part in there own team's loss. Interesting. But we're all entitled to our opinions. I know this. In the 1st half of both the Huffman game and the Splendora game, team was not prepared. And it showed.
  3. Thanks for the support Ltrain11. Appreciate it. Friday's game was entertaining. Both teams had their own issues. Both sides of the ball. The game is over. Splendora won. I won't any additional thoughts on the game. No need for me to provoke another "novel long" post of excuses. I said last week that if it came down to passing, Lum would be in trouble. And we needed to pass at the end. The blocked XP put us in that position. But that's football. Have to execute. Both run games were hard to stop. After Splendora's first possession of 3rd quarter, they got relaxed. Confident and play calling definitely changed. Didn't run 41 that much in 2nd half and didn't give the ball to 7 at all in 2nd half. Lum does what they have all season. Played hard and never gave up. Made for an exciting ending. Good game.
  4. Thanks Bigdog. And appreciate all you other's support. Typical homers. Always have excuses. Cant stand anyone that has different opinion or has a little criticism. And for the record...I'd hire someone NOT from Lumberton.
  5. Lum 5 wins. Against a bad furr team. BC, Livingston, Kville. These 3 have 1 or no wins. And Huffman (shouldve lost this one). I know you play who's on schedule. But not too impressive. Beat LCM next week and people probly give Babin coach of the year...
  6. The so called culture change the past 2 years is knowing Lum was moving down to 4A. That caused excitement this Lum would dominate. Heard that since last year. And now we see it ain't happening. Our district and the Furr district are weak. Just being real. Lum will probly beat whoever they play from that district 1st round. Then will get it handed to them in 2nd round. Once again...just being real.
  7. Hence why I said what I did. If it comes down to Splendora running the ball and Lumberton passing the ball, Splendora has the advantage.
  8. I could see a low scoring game too. Instead of the 31-27 type scores I've seen on here, could see it more like 17-13. Two keys that I think will affect score: Stopping Lumberton running game and stopping Splendora passing game. Whichever team is able to stop the other's strength will win. If both team's stop the other one's strength, then I think Splendora running game is better than Lumberton passing game and they have a better chance of winning.
  9. I think Lumberton have to throw it a little to win. Maybe not much. Convert on a 3rd down or two late to secure a win. Be nice to see Babin add a wrinkle or two in the offense. Something nobody has seen. 4 wr's and 1 rb stuff. Think that would spread Splendora out and allow Boykin spaces to run. Also throwing a few wr screens or slants early would help qb timing for later in game if the pass is needed
  10. Should be a good game. I think Alfaro being back has helped the pass defense. Key to most games is turnovers and special teams. Whoever wins the turnover battle and makes a couple big plays on special teams will win. Hope it's competitive and no one gets hurt. If Lumberton can stop the pass, should be a close one. If not, Spendora wins by 10+
  11. Go Raiders. I am from Lumberton. 30+ years strong. Just because I point out certain things, or state certain facts, doesn't mean I'm bashing. Doesn't mean I want team to lose. Cause I don't. I want them to win. Just being objective. 5-3 record looks good, but does it really. Only win against a winning team is Furr. Who several on this site said was terrible. 3 of the other 4 wins are against teams with 1 or no wins. So is it that we have gotten better, or just an average team playing some inferior competition. Playoffs will tell the tell. With all that being said, we have had a good...for the kids. Always nice to win some games. Either way you look at it.....2020-21 season we'll be back to 5A and back to the same old story of being too small of a school to compete in 5A. Don't have enough athlete's, etc.. Same old song forever...
  12. I agree with you SmashMouth. Well said. Run for office. You got my vote. LOL My posts are directed and the homers and the parents who keep posting the same stuff on here. And not seeing what is really going on in the games. A lot more to games than td's and stats. For Lumberton to get better as a program, needs to be more than accepting average and the whole participation trophy mentality. Fully support all the kids and the efforts they put in. Pointing out what a player is or is not doing is not bashing. Maybe it's criticism...not bashing. If a kid can't throw the ball or is lazy on defense, then it is what it is... And AggiesAreWe: You are 100% correct. Just tired of hearing about injuries. Every team has them.
  13. Every teams has injuries. That's a fact. Don't get butt hurt cause I point out that Lumberton is having moderate success against a weak schedule, in a weak district. And acting like we're world beaters. Not bashing the kids, it's the adults. And back on injuries, don't think we lost much with the QB situation. And without injuries, still wouldn't have beaten Jasper or Silsbee. Maybe not Concordia either. So still would probably be sitting at 5-3. Probably win district or finish 2nd...And lose 2nd round in playoffs.... Sometimes people point out the truth of things. That's not bashing anyone..Just stating how it is. Something that most "homer" fans can't handle..
  14. Been listening to all this about Lumberton defense, offense, excuses, injuries, etc. I want the team to be successful, but I'm also am realistic. The teams played have a combined record of 26-40. That with an 8-0 Jasper in there. Lost to a 3-6 Concordia team and to 2 smaller 4A teams. Teams also have a combined district record of 8-18. Weak schedule, partly due to being in probably the weakest 4A D1 district. If not, then maybe 2nd weakest behind the district with Furr in it. But that district does have Navasota in it. Either way, both bad. Lucky thing is, both districts play into each other 1st round in Playoffs. Prediction: Our district 1st & 2nd place teams (Spendora & Lumberton....maybe LCM sneaks in there....possible) will win 1st round playoff games. 3rd place team may win too. 4th place will not beat Navasota. None of our teams will get out of 2nd round of playoffs. Lumberton is average team who plays hard. But gonna take more than a one dimensional offense, slow defense, and generic play calling to beat good teams.
  15. 260 lb running back? C'mon man. Oh..you mean the DE that comes in a runs the ball. Think he's a RB. Run over people? Seen him get stuffed plenty of times and take several plays off on defense. Keep tooting your boy's horn...
  16. Two older brothers tough on him. LOL I think both may have been QB's too. You know they on him..
  17. Yea. He's an athlete. Tough kid too. Only gonna get better. Sux that Bridges got hurt, but having a possible 3 year starter at QB will only benefit team in future. He needs to go to some QB camps/coaches and develop his passing skills. Lum runs the ball fairly well at times, but against better teams, need to be more balanced
  18. And Huffman had the ball, inside Lumberton 20. Less than minute to go. tied 31-31. And instead of setting up for game winning FG, Huffman threw on 1st or 2nd down. Can't remember which down The same fade route and it was intercepted at around the 2 yard line.. Not to mention earlier in game, Lum got TD off a ball that should've been picked off. Hit guy right in hands, bounced over his head, Carr caught it and went in for TD. Huffman definitely lost the game.
  19. Huffman only throws the ball to #10 I think. 90 % of the time . A slant every now and then, but mostly it's a fade route on the twin receiver side. All Lumberton did was move the safety over the top in the 2nd half. Huffman continued to throw the same route. Interception after interception. Bad play calling. Huffman should've never lost to Lumberton after being up 24-7 at half.
  20. What any team in our district does not want is to finish 2nd for playoffs seedings. 2nd place is our district will draw Carthage 2nd round. You finish 3rd, see Carthage 3rd round.
  21. The volleyball/softball coach at Livingston is a good friend of mine. She's been there 3-4 years. Trying to change the culture of her teams. She was competitive last year in 5A and will be in 4A too. I've been to a few of her games the past few years. Kids play hard, disciplined. There is definitely a different culture with her programs vs the football program. She did say that there's not much community support for the athletic programs. Especially football. There were talks of building a new stadium there with the new high school, but don't think that happened. Still at the old stadium off HWY 190
  22. Livingston & BC are not beating the other 4 teams. Therefore, Lum will make the playoffs. Already beat an average Huffman team. Lumberton finishes 3rd or better.
  23. Big win. Life lesson. Never give up. Good job Raiders
