  1. Coop, I want to send a HUGE GOOD LUCK to Danny B & his girls (along w/ coach merchant & Ivey). Irony: the girls coach from Salado came down & stayed a couple of days with our family a few years ago, & interviewed for the Woodville girls job. As you know, I am from oklahoma, but my mom & Aunt graduated from brock, & my Aunt played in State @ Brock!! Get em girls "The Woodville Way"!!!
  2. I would like to wish Danny B & the girls "good luck" @ State! your friend, Bob Stoops
  3. Kountze coach did stomp the floor hard, but big deal. That is just his style. The Kountze injured player did play, but prolly not near her potential. It did affect their team for sure. Woodville had a starter who missed the first month of the season, their best athlete moved to Silsbee(& she's prolly crying like rats eating onions right now) & Ashley Mitchel tore her ACL. I took Ashley & Brooke to the Lamar/OU womens game 2 years ago,& these are girls who love hoops. To say somebody has had more obstacles to overcome than Woodville girls, is a stretch at best. Both teams played hard & the refs did a really good job. Also both teams had 1 of their "studs" get in horrible foul trouble. Woodville's girl got into much earlier foul trouble, but she was the one who managed not to foul out. I applaud both teams for their hard play & a funn game to watch. I would also like to send a loud "GOOD LUCK" to my friends who coach this team, & the girls on this team. I only wish I could be there to watch Danny B & his girls go win this time! I was going to list your names, but could only remember your "street" names! HAHA
  4. gotta gree with Greg on that...who cares how many points you give up, as long as you get the "W".
  5. Congrats to Greg Owens & his SS Wildcats! He is a good Christian man & a very classy coach. PrOUd for hiim & his team. Congrats to Dayton on a very fine season as well.
  6. I am an idiot, but stand by my prediction. Woodville's new coach will have them rolling by district time, & the top 4 teams will be VERY good!
  7. this may be one of those odd yeas when 23AA couldn't make the playoffs if they were in this district. 1.Newton, best team they've had in years 2. San-Augustine: new young motivated coach & athletes 2b. Shelbyville: If they got some more move-ins they will be VERY tOUgh! 2c. Woodville: New coach & great young talent & nice blend w/ returning Sr's. 5.Kirbyville 6.Hemphill
  8. good coaches, but those district teams will be as down as they have been in MANY years.
  9. Yes they should lift during bb season. Why would you ask that?
  10. Woodvile isn't tht bad. They had an injury to 1 of their better Rb's several weeks ago. They just need to lift more weights during bb season! ;D
  11. sounds like Woodville's "D" cam out ready to defend on Homecoming. Good luck the last 2 games. Get in the playoffs guys, or you'll have to START lifting weights! lol
  12. well, Woodville lifts a lot of weights.... during basketball season! :
  13. Reggie Williams: new hd man @ Woodville. He will do a great job & they have a lot of upcoming young talent! Calobe Isaacs: new to Spurger. They should be VERY good in 1A this year.
  14. 1. Silsbee/Newton 2.HJ & somewhere in the top 10 would be Woodville.
  15. With school now starting August 25 state wide, doesn't fb (as well as volleyball) get 3 weeks of practice before school starts(i.e. durimg the Summer)? You combine that with the last 6 weeks of school most fb coaches get for "Spring fb", & that is quite a bit of practice outside of their season. Granted, most of it is used very wisely & they need some extra time. What I would like to see the UIL do is modify their rule & give the bb coaches 12 days in the Summer to coach. These days would have to be used by July 15th(so as not to intefere with upcoming volleyball & fb practices + give the kids & their families some time off), & you could only coach during a Summer League game or tournament or Team Camp...not to exceed 12 days & or nights. Absolutely no practicing in the Summer, just coach them during the games.
  16. Yantis is a slow growing school located on Lake Fork & just 10 mi. South of Sulphur Springs. Brand New JH, & the HS & gymnasium are only 4 years old. One playoff win in previous 20 + years, so it will be a challenge. I will SORELY miss my players here, as they have bought into "The Woodville Way" these past 3 years & yes, we are definitely about to turn the corner here. Woodville's Lil' Dribblers, w/ the help of many in the community, is now VERY strong. We have had 9 teams in our JV/V Summer League the last 3 years & our bb camp the last 3 years has had over a combined 320 kids! OUr upcoming talent in the 8th---11th grades is VERY good. This Summer, our Varsity also went to TABC's Team Camp in Georgetown & I saw LOTS of improvement!! In addition, our pay & facilities are some of the best in all of East Texas! Hopefully, they get the right man for the job(RW). Good luck guys!! coach Bowles, Boomer Sooner!
  17. Bowles is going to Yantis as AD/hd bb. Woodville has great upcoming young talent... great pay & great facilities. Strong Lil' Dribblers/bb camps & S. league is also well established.
