  1. My understanding is that it has to posted no matter what. He may already have in mind who he wants, but it has to be posted for any and all to apply.
  2. On the PNG boards it says the arrangements are pending due to a delay in getting his body back here from Arizona.
  3. Just copied this off the PNG website about the special board meeting called. Port Neches-Groves ISD Special Meeting Tuesday, February 3, 2009 6:00 PM West Groves Ed. Center, 5840 W. Jefferson, Groves, TX 1. Call to Order and Establishment of Quorum 2. Consider Approval of Employment of Athletic Director/Head Football Coach 3. Adjournment
  4. \ Yes, I Get it, you want to skirt the law. If it was a physics teacher list, PNG would turn it over in a heart-beat. I got hired at PNG this year and nobody filed an FOI for the list of applicants for my position or my salary.
  5. I used to work in Human Resources. The law in the state of Texas is that anyone can be let go from a position for any reason or no reason at all. Your employer does not have to give you a reason according to the law. Most do out of courtesy, but the law does not mandate it. So yes, in theory, a coach could lose his job for applying at another school, or for wearing blue, or for driving a Toyota, whatever.
  6. Here is the info if you are talking about 13-15 year olds. I do not have the info for 16 and up. Nederland Babe Ruth League, Inc. is conducting early registration for the 2009 Spring Season. Visit our web-site at [Hidden Content] and download the registration form from the Document Center. Complete the form and return it along with the registration fee by mail to the P.O. Box listed on the form before January 15, 2009 and take $20 off of the normal registration fee of $140. For more information contact Randy Rice at 409-718-1563 or e-mail at [email protected].
  7. maybe cause a coach cussed you out in front of the entire team blaming you for the loss of a game. This happened to a kid I know and he thought about quitting, even told the coach so (from what I heard). Luckily he was talked out of it by his teammates, but I can understand why he wanted to quit. By the way, I have quit a job before because it wasn't fun anymore and because I was being put down and verbally abused. Oh, I wasn't being cussed out or anything, but it was made plain to me that I was not wanted, so I left. Does that make me a quitter?
  8. I have my tickets for MCM, but one of the teachers at my school needs 3 if possible. Call my cell phone at 527-0358 if you have any you are wanting to sell.
  9. In my most humble opinion the problem is bigger because people are coming back in. My husband is one of the ones that had to stay because he works for one of the cities. He has called me time and time again complaining because they are being hindered due to the people coming back in. He works for one of the lesser-affected cities, but they are still without power and still have clean up to do. I can only imagine how Bridge City and Orange workers must be frustrated!!! I certainly cant understand by WO is wanting school to start on Monday when we are still under mandatory evac. My kids wont be there!
  10. I was told last night that you could go to the food stamp office nearest you and receive emergency food stamps. Make sure you bring SS# for everyone in your household. Income is not a qualification to get them because this is an emergency situation. I wasnt sure I believed it so I went to portarthur.net and linked over to Texas Online and it is true.
  11. How do you know, and if we already registered how do we get this? If you have registered, go to the fema website and check and see if your application has been updated. Mine was and it said I was eligible for temp housing. After that, take your fema # to the hotel and if they are fema contracted they will cover your room.
  12. Congrats to you guys! How are the rest of the teams in the tourney looking? Anybody looking better than our guys???
  13. I dont know why he changed his mind, but he allowed the runner to advance and stay at 2nd base. It was in the13yo East Texas State Championship game for Babe Ruth. It was the last inning and the run he called safe was the go-ahead run. Dont know if it lost the game for us, but it definitely changed the momentum. He also would not allow us to protest the runner at 2nd.
  14. Thanks for the post NHS82. I agree! Let the boys enjoy the moment. I was one of the parents and my son saw very little playing time, but when he was brought in, it was for a reason, pitching, pinch running, etc. Every boy played in every game. That says something for the coaches, as they didnt have to play every boy. Teams work together for the betterment of the team and the boys and parents knew that. I could not have been prouder of the boys AND the parents (and in today's world that says a lot!)
  15. I have one because it happened to us this past weekend. Runner at third. Batter hits grounder, fielder throws to home, catcher makes the play, umpire calls runner out for 3rd out. All the boys start running off the field and then the umpire changes his mind and calls runner safe. In the confusion of the moment batter continues to run to second. First of all, since ump called runner out can he change his mind (catcher did not drop the ball) and if so, should batter have had to go back to first?
  16. Congratulations to the 13-year-olds. They played very well all weekend, but in the end was just shy of winning it all! It came down to Monday night. They played in the championship game and was leading all the way through 2-0, then 2-1, then 3-1. Sampere was on fire with his pitching, but could only pitch 6 innings and some VERY close calls (and questionable) in the 7th inning with 2 outs gave the game to Brazoswood. They went ahead 5-3 and our boys couldn't pull out any more magic in the bottom of the 7th. To all the naysayers that thought they would fail, you should have seen them play!!! There was not one boy on the team that should not have been there. They all stepped it up and all 15 deserved to be all stars! They played outstanding and left it all on the field. Nothing else to be said. I for one am VERY proud of them. Hopefully the 14-year-olds can take it all the way! Watch out next year, cuz we have unfinished business in Lake Jackson.
  17. Well said. I have been telling my son that all year long. Prior to this year he has almost always played 3rd. He mainly played right field this year when he wasnt pitching. I told him a couple of weeks ago that they called the guys that rode the pine all during the all star season, but was on the winning team, champions (just like the ones that played all the time). His coach has said from the first practice that every guy was there for a reason, whether it was to be DH, relief pitcher, pinch runner, whatever, they all made the team for a reason.
  18. Nederland Babe Ruth is going to have fall ball this year as well.
  19. The 13 year olds are looking pretty good. They have a lot of pitchers that have solid pitching. Add Couron to the list of bats to look for as well as Tarver. Breuer is patient at the plate and gets on base quite a bit with walks. Meaux can lay down a mean bunt and can usually get on base with his wheels. They have a lot of heart and held their own extremely well in a scrimmage against the 14 year olds last Friday. Added to the fact that I havent heard any griping and complaining from players or parents, and I think they have the chance to go far this summer.
  20. I agree with everything you said besbolbendygud. One of the boys that quit our team lives right around the corner from us and didnt get to play the position he wanted, so he never went to practice. He had plenty of offers for rides. The other kid that quit played Babe Ruth, Pony, and select, so he was never at practice either. My son threw his helmet once in a game and the coach had a fit, and I am glad, because if he hadnt I was on my way to pull my kid for his attitude. I know most of my son's Groves friends played Pony in Port Neches. It would have been way more convenient for me if he had also, but he wanted to play Babe Ruth. My experience has been great over there and I have no complaints, and my son didnt play all the time and certainly didnt play the position he wanted all the time. We have had a great time, and I expect it to continue long into the summer with this allstar team.
