2. Game of the year probably not,  Game of this district probably so Colmesneil has already lost this year.

4. Am a Proud Parent just not from Chester The information was taken from the Beaumont Enterprise this morning.
5.
Please don't jump me for asking a question! I just want to know? I heard that the realignment count for Chester was 59 - Is that correct? If that is correct how many young men are in that number? Now for the sticky question....At what number of students does a school have to fall to making it too expensive to have a staff in the high school to afford to keep the doors open? I know that schools go through cycles, but with teachers for English, Science, Math, Social Studies, Spanish(?), Athletics one for boys and one girls, ag(?) and one other elective thats 9 teachers with even an average of $25,000 (which is on the low end) that $225,000 in salaries alone and that does not count administration which I am sure they share in some way. I am not advocating consolidation, dropping to 6 man or anything of the sort. I just want to know is there are trigger that makes the cost of a school have to be looked at in a different way in order to provide a well rounded education for students and the best use of the money that people pay in taxes? Please I am not trying to start anything I really just want to know!
58 kids  26 of them boys  20 played football.  One player broke his foot a week earlier and all the injuries in the HI game.  It left 12 guys.
6. IMO Evadale needs to concentrate on Football then Basketball before they worry if they make the playoffs in Baseball.
7.
Because of bad weather?
I think it would be safe to say
8. Indeed it was 99-00 for Baseball and Basketball was in 2001.  They won state championship and won the Texas Cup.
9. Unless the Rays are playing tonight or he is in the stands dont think you will see Zim at the game.  He is probably with Ms. Zimmer in Seminole Fl.
10. I think he did pretty decent last night.  He did miss some calls but that is going to happen.  I am SO GLAD they got the Double play correct in the 6th inning.  Glad they took the opportunity to meet and discuss it. Heard Bud Selig say that there has been several bad calls in the playoffs but he wants his Umps to be judged for their work throughout the season.
11. Evadale opponents win loss is 28 46.  I went ahead and left off Week Zero and added the Chester and Colmesneil. 19-39 without Chester and Colmesneil
12. Actually I retract what I said about Cleveland and Coldspring being ahead of Silsbee.  The strength of Silsbee schedule is pretty good.  They beat some good teams. I did some quick calculation not including week 0 it appears the that Silsbee opponents win loss is 35-16 Cleveland and Coldsprings have played some really weak teams.  Cleveland and Coldsprings both have losing records.
13. I think Evadale is properly ranked.  Silsbee I think is ranked a little high.  I think Cleveland, Coldspring and WOS(even though Silsbee did beat them) are better teams. Evadale needs to be proud of where they are ranked and remember these rankings mean NOTHING. As long as they keep putting up numbers in the Wins Column that is all that matters.
14.
I predict a forfeit!  ;) Seriously, how many kids were still left in this program after the injuries? Prayerful in Silsbee for Chester ISD.
Chester did make the decision to cancel the rest of the season.

16. C: Ruiz/Posada: This one is a toss up do you take the proven vet Posada who has struggled Defensively, or do you take Ruiz who is solid defensively and has been swinging the bat well in the post season? I'll go with a PUSH on this one 1B Howard/Texiera: Howard has been crushing the ball in the post season Defense has been improved but shaky at times. Tex all around stud with the glove and the switch hitting ability however for this one Going to take Howard 2B Utley/Cano: Utley has been down in the post season has an injury that he will have to get taken care of at the end of the season and is not talking about, Cano is playing well but this one has to go with Utley just because SS Rollins/Jeter: Rollins better Glove than Jeter and has hit in the 9th innings for the Phillies this postseason. However Jeter is still Jeter Mr. Postseason himself gotta give the nod to Jeter how could you go against him 3b Feliz/ARod: Feliz has a great glove and gets hits at times. Who are we kidding AROD his blistering hot at this point in the postseason AROD not even close RF Werth/Swisher: Werth has come to play this postseason multiple Homeruns and driving in runs. Swisher has been bad Werth not even close CF Victorino/Cabrera: Victorino a pesky hitter good D much to the same of melky. Melky connects yankees lineup very well PUSH LF Ibanez/Damon: 2 very different style players Ibanez had a very good start to the season but has slowed down. Damon has been average in this post season. Ibanez first time in the bright lights of the WS think he is going to bring it Ibanez DH: Dobbs/Francisco/Stairs/ Matsui: Matsui has to be considered better here Starting Pitching: Phillies hit CC in the past Lee has been on fire Slight edge Phillies Bullpen: with Mo Rivera yanks get the checkmark This gives 5-4 edge Phillies After comparing the players head to head I like Phillies in 6.  But this doesnt take into effect Home field advantage, fan noise, travel fatigue etc.  Phillies winning games 1,3,5,6
17. This is so true "If you think it's silly to give a manager a three-year contract but don't mind throwing $100 million of your ill-gotten gains at Carlos Lee, you probably need to have your head examined (though of course something similar might be said of half the owners in the majors)."
18. Rob Neyer of ESPN.com said this Manny Acta was the guy they wanted. The Astros liked everything about him. His presence and personality. How he forged relationships with players. His ability to run a game.I said from the beginning that there was no right answer in this search for a new manager. Manny Acta would have been terrific, but then so would Phil Garner, Bob Melvin, Tim Bogar, Jim Fregosi and a dozen or so others. But the Astros settled on Manny Acta. Ed Wade and Tal Smith went through the list and the interviews and decided he should be the guy to lead the Astros through an important period in their history. There's no use surgarcoating what happened these last 48 hours. Drayton McLane refused to offer Acta a three-year contract. He offered two, and even when the Cleveland Indians offered three, he held firm. --snip-- He operated the Astros that way when they made the playoffs six times in nine years, and he's operating them this way now. I believe in my heart of hearts that his heart is in the right place, but he has some odd thoughts about putting a team together. He'll allow his people overspend on some has-been player, but veto spending on draft picks and managers. Now the Astros will move on. They've got some tough spinning to do when a manager finally is hired. It's not just that the new manager won't be their first choice. It's that the Astros lost their first choice for a relatively small amount of money. If you don't trust your baseball people to choose your manager, you should get new baseball people. If you think it's silly to give a manager a three-year contract but don't mind throwing $100 million of your ill-gotten gains at Carlos Lee, you probably need to have your head examined (though of course something similar might be said of half the owners in the majors). It's not likely that failing to hire Manny Acta is debilitating, because it's not likely that Manny Acta is a great manager. I mean, it's certainly possible. It's just that there aren't many great managers -- to the questionable extent such a beast might be identified, anyway -- and so the odds of any particular manager being great are small indeed. What's debilitating is a sense of the organization, both within and without, that the owner and his top lieutenants aren't on the same page. Whether that characterization is fair or not, often the perception becomes the reality.
19. and so did Garner and so forth.  I give it till August
