  1. Any word on the Lumberton tournament and if the games will be played as scheduled today or not?
  2. Prayers from this Bridge City family.
  3. Does anyone know if the scrimmage tomorrow is still on and if so, where and what time? Heard Lumberton, but not sure if this is correct.
  4. So you have one starter and a bunch of question marks and you predict a playoff run?????? And how do you know who will play and who won't and who will start and who won't......................geez! Sounds like the team has been picked for next year so the one's that sat the bench might as well quit as you seem to think a whole new lineup is coming a year from now. And yeah they are several that won't play after this year I figure................but why bother, got freshmen coming up to steal the show, lol. Be a part of the program and get to know the leader of the program and you to will have the power of knowledge. Don't bang on my opinion when you really do not know the program and please don't use the phrase ...........geez because it sounds so Beaver Cleaver!!!!!! Remember my prediction and say to yourself that person really did know what time it was. Now that this thread has taken a turn to a new subject you can start a new thread called "I'm from Bridge City and I want someone to write something so I can ridicule them". Write me in '09 and see how close I was! And I can use any phrase I want, regardless of how you feel it sounds. And I am very glad you have all the inside information because you "know the leader" of the program and know who will start and who won't and who will quit and who won't. And I find it very interesting that the coach would be so free to pass that information on to anyone, but you seem to have the inside track, don't you? And to think that you have all this for next year and the season just ended. I am impressed! Maybe you can sit on the bench with "the leader of the program" and coach with him, you seem so involved in BC's program. I guess we can't all be so privilaged as to the information you have though, so we will see what happens in 09. I for the boy's sake, hope they do well, but just don't see it. They lost some very agressive players in the seniors that won't be here, and agressive defense is what wins ballgames, plus rebounding, which we were not very good at. The seniors will be sorely missed, they were the heart of this year, no doubt. GEEZ..........................that one's for you!

  6. and why don't you get off this thread and go play with your little friends somewhere else.
  7. Maybe they learned you will never win if you don't shoot. I'm glad they are letting the boys play the game tonight!! Yeah and you never admit defeat before you even begin. What ever happened to the idea that you never give up? I feel bad for the guys after what happened the other night and I promise you, they would never do that without being told to. Maybe they can go out on a decent note tonight.
  8. Well, thank heavens for that! Not a bad halftime score.............I should've gone to this one!
  9. Talked to someone around 5:30 and was told Liberty did not show up..................anyone know if they ever did and if not, what happened?
  10. Yeah they were. No one wants to go out and intentionally have to do that. And to think it was most of those guys last home game (seniors) and that's just a shame for them especially. I just don't understand the reasoning behind being told to pass and not shoot. Goofy.
  11. Congrats on the win HJ....................you have a very good team and from one who loves to watch a good team play basketball, you are fun to watch. I also like the way your coach coaches the players the whole game, he knows his stuff. And I guess BC was doing passing drills the whole game is all I can come up with.......................they looked totally ridiculous and I am from BC. GEEZ, that was a total embarassment and why that happened is beyond my comprehension, but was a total waste of the couple of bucks I paid to watch.
  12. You know, the issue with this could be coming from the older kids parents that think their son may get beat out of a spot on Varsity................and that goes back to the "put the best athletes on the field, regardless of what grade they are in" which looks like what Billy has done in the past. I think whatever he feels like are the best will make the team, and that's what he gets paid for. Season hasn't even had a good week of full practices yet has it...........Payton Place (BC)
  13. I agree with you on putting a kid on varsity then he gets to sit the bench most of the time. That is bad in any sport because it hurts a kids confidence in himself and certainly does not help them get better. I can't wait for baseball to get fully cranked up! Good luck to all the BC teams!
  14. When is the next scrimmage and can the basketballers play in that or do they have to wait until after next Tuesday's last basketball game????
  15. I wish BC could win.............but I just don't think so. HJ by 30
  16. Okay, gotta put my two cents in! First of all, I don't think the whole team has been picked yet (varsity) from what the boys I talk to are saying. But more importantly, in my opinion, it doesn't matter what grade a kid is in, or I don't think it should in high school sports, but what should be first and foremost is the athletic ability in any given sport. If a freshman or sophomore can outplay a junior or senior, then they get the spot. And I don't think there should be any edge given to an older athlete, simply because they are in a higher grade. Play the kids on their ability, end of story. But again, that's my opinion. I think there are some coaches that to be "politically correct" , they will play the senior over lower grades, even though you have a much better athlete in the younger kid, he will get his day later. I think that for any program to have any success, you have to play the best athletes you have thus build on the ability of the best, and if that happens to be a younger kid, look what you will have by the time this one is a senior. I guess what I mean to say in a nutshell is that high school teams should be about the best athletes, regardless of what grade and coaches have to have the intelligence to pick those best players and play them. That being said, let Coach Bryant pick his best 15 athletes and play ball!
  17. Not me! Have been enjoying my boys in sports since they were 5 years old! And won't stop till the last game is played!
  18. Eagle12 to answer your question, I think it does. Or in some schools I believe it does effect kids that play multiple sports. If you are already established on Varsity, it should not, but then again it does in some cases. Anyway, if you play football, then you miss out on the basketball tryouts, and if you play basketball, then you miss the baseball tryouts. It is (as my son is finding out) a wise decision to choose what you like best and stick with it. Mine likes all sports and is good in them, but will most probably opt to not play basketball after this year so he can be in on the baseball tryouts and scrimmages from the beginning. Just the nature of the beast, and coaches wanting kids to go year round in a certain sport. Not sure who all on the basketball team will try out for the baseball team, but do know there are several who were already on varsity last year, so they should definately make the varsity squad.
