Mr ump I understand that there is a no slide rule but explain to me the rule on a player coming in home with a play to be made and say he comes in standing up. If he makes contact with the cathcer that has the ball and knocks it out of his hand and he doesnt do it maliciously but it is heavy NON SLIDE contact how can an umpire call him safe.

when a player dives in home head first and never hits the ground because he is instead plowing into the knees of a catcher I am positive that that player is called out if the contact knocks the ball out of his hands. The runner may not at all make contact with the catcher other than a slide or a reasobnable attempt to avoid contact. Maybe im not putting this on here for you right but the kid from ozen knows what i am talking about since by the looks of that hit he may not play the rest of this year.

Being at the game I dont believe there was a single call that made the difference in the game. If anything the no call at the plate that the runner should have been called out for not sliding and instead scored a go ahead run that took out the catcher for the rest of the game was really the only questionable thing I so going on. Both teams had opportunities they did not capitalize on but all in all this was a great game to watch it had great pitching clutch hitting and key plays that made a difference that made it great to watch. great job both teams.

luv ya gabe but how can you reall yroute for that team. It s the only one that doesnt get the spirit of the game. they are store bought and cant win with waht they buy. Although i think arod caught a lot of flack the last couple of years yet still the best player in baseball right now. hate those yankees love the underdog.

I would just like to say that it has been my pleasure to be a part of the baseball success this year and for all of you people that like to kick kids when they are down with these umpire comments when they arent prevoked i hope you feel good about yourselves. All players showed great poise and attitude. Sharks are in the playoffs for the first time in a long long time and they have every reason to be proud of themselves. Birthday boy drew carlos 4 for 4 yesterday.

Stalling lets see, The pitcher was taking no less than 45 seconds a pitch, There were at least 15 throws down to first with the slowest guys from sabine on the base and another 5 down to third. There were several other instances where the player was walking around and asking for new balls one after another but all of this is no matter. The game will be played and the best team that day will win.

I Know they are not one of the big schools but i would have to say Sabine Pass. three wins last year and one in the two years previous to that. They are in thrid place in district with a 7 and 4 overall record. They ahve not been 10 run ruled except for once this year and have been in every game they have played. The wooping boys no more it looks like.

Sloppy game. The score is not a good representation. It should have been alot worse but as usual you know how teams play down to their competition. Gary ball did stay hot with his bat getting 3 hits 2 of which were doubles. Casey Carlos got the victory. Just wondering if anyone has heard these comments from umps and it really got on their nerves? An ump said to the coach after the coach asked why he wasnt calling a balk. " Coach Im giving youre kid the same call." But the Sabine Pass kid wasnt balking he was stopping in the stretch. After the game the ump said come on coach you knew yall were going to win anyway. I think a rule is a rule and you should call it it doesnt help the players for the playoffs or their future.

Coach vines was just fine. Baseball is a complex and wishy washy sport and at any time something can go the other way. High Island is not a bad team and a good game was expected. Yes the umps played a role in the outcome but if you take away running mistakes the score would have been different.

All the teams that Sabine Pass played were comparible. Teams like brooklyn, Big Sandy, Memorial are the only ones that were lost. And they were at a time when practice time was extrememly scarce. No that they are playing and practicing on a regular basis they are doing well. They beat Warren would be their greatest accomplishment this year as well as no hit starks. This was a positive topic until you had to ruin it. Why do that to some hardowrking well deserved Kids.

Based on career stats and success it is cut and dry. Joe Washington a lincoln graduate, Redskin running back has to be the best to ever come out of this area hands down.
