  1. Coach Sims, you are a class act. Your kids were always great sports, polite, and respectful. Your knowledge of the game is immense, and I have shamelessly stolen plays and drills from you, trying to be a better coach. But you never stopped trying to be a better coach yourself. You are selfless towards your kids and your peers, and I want to thank you for all the advice you have given me over the years. You will be missed in the world of girls' high school basketball, and I will miss the fact that I never got at least one win over you. LOL Take care of yourself coach, and don't be surprised if you get a phone call next year to coach an All-Star game. Your the best, Lin Ellis Sam Rayburn HS
  2. Sure wish I could be there, but I'll be watching the board looking for results. Knowing Coach Broocks and those young ladies on the team, if they play like they are capable, it will be playoffs bound for the Lady Warriors. Good luck tomorrow night, Ladies.
  3. Here are the final standings for the district: (1) North Shore 14-0 (2) Deer Park 11-3 (3) Dobie 10-4 (4) La Porte 9-5 (5) Sam Rayburn 5-9 (5) Pasadena Memorial 5-9 (7) South Houston 1-13 (7) Pasadena 1-13
  4. Here are the standings as of January 30, 2008: North Shore 12-0 Deer Park 10-2 Pasadena Dobie 8-4 La Porte 7-5 Sam Rayburn 5-7 Pasadena Memorial 4-8 South Houston 1-11 Pasadena 1-11 Friday night games are: Pasadena Sam Rayburn vs North Shore Dobie vs Deer Park La Porte vs Pasadena South Houston vs Pasadena Memorial Next Tuesday night games: La Porte vs Pasadena Memorial Dobie vs Pasadena Sam Rayburn North Shore vs Pasadena South Houston vs Deer Park As for play-off spots, those have been determined. North Shore has wrapped up the district championship and Deer Park has 2nd. Dobie has 3rd, IF they can win out against Deer Park and Sam Rayburn. If they lose to either team, and La Porte wins out, there will need to be a tie breaker, as they split their games.
  5. During my first year as a coach, I was JV and assistant to Coach K. That was nearly a decade ago, and while I have been assistant to other coaches, none have been the role model for me that he is. Since that time I have coached against him, and he has never been anything but a class act, and his teams as well. When we came over from Houston to play, Coach K was there from the beginning, making sure we needed nothing. And the Lady Tigers were great as well, talking with me and my players after the game. If I could ever become half the coach, teacher, and person Coach K is, I could honestly say I had lived a great life. So to you, Coach, just remember that you are loved and respected, and never let yourself doubt that. Print out the pages here if you ever need reminding. For every quote listed here, there's probably a few hundred people that feel the same. And I am one of them. Lin Ellis Sam Rayburn Lady Texans
  6. I just want to wish Christan, Tiffany, Stormy, Chelsea, Courtney, Brandi, Allyssa, Shaina, and Coaches Basinger and Kehtel the best of luck tonight. My only regret is that I can't be there tonight in person cheering you on :'(, but just know that I will be thinking about you tonight, and hopefully I'll get a call from someone with the good news. Play like you're capable, and no one can stop you. Coach Ellis ;D
