  1. There are plenty of volleyball stat programs out there. Do not let people talk you out of stat keeping just because they cannot tell what a proper assist, block or an attack is. Most spectators do not know how these stats are supposed to be recorded causing a "padding" of stats. Check apple and download any of the programs suited to your needs.
  2. Melissa Martin who has coached several years at Nederland High School and was recently at Sabine Pass High School is leaving area to go to 5A Bellaire High School in Houston. Good Luck, you will missed and a great loss for the girls at Sabine that she has been with since their 8th grade year.
  3. Sabine takes this one 3-1 after losing first game... Background info on this team. It has been 4 years going into Tuesdays game before Sabine Pass has one a single match. Coach Martin has built this team beginning four years ago, enduring hurricane after hurricane that destroyed gymnasium and theatre arts building. This was the first home game in their gym in 4 years and it is beginning to pay off. Coach is one of the great coaches in the area that does not have great athletes or feeder programs but instead of complaining she has worked and worked to get the girls prepared to play anybody from 1A to 5A even if it took a butt whoopin. Succes is coming and it goes to show you hard work and dedication take you places. Good job Coach Martin and lady sharks of Sabine Pass. Good luck to all this year and remember we all walk on this floor together.
  4. Stepped down but still teaching and covering female AD duties for Sabine Pass girls.
  5. True Txvb. Some of the best coaches I know that have the background, knowledge and skills have very few wins at their schools. Why- some of these schools flat out don't have the talent to compete. The coach can give them every skill possible but if they can't execute it then they won't win. Should the coach retire? No, if they truly love the game still and want to teach it then they should be there. If they lose the love of the game then maybe they should move on. Let the girls play and the coaches coach. Good luck to all sport coaches and keep working hard. As a fellow coach I know what you deal with and if you are a former coach you should also know. We would love to win em all but it's not gonna happen. Enjoy the wins and learn from the losses.
  6. Didn't happen Bag, get facts straight before posting.
  7. You'd be surprised how many young men would like to play volleyball. That doesn't mean put them up against the girls teams, you could allow other schools to establish boys teams to play. The conflict is there really is no time during the year to get that going. With football coming first in the year it would hamper fielding teams. The Houston area does this in a few schools and has had success.
  8. That match was way out of hand even before the linesman incident. These teams have been playing for months now and when referees still do not know the rules and are so inconsistent then matches like these get out of hand. The referees could have easily controlled the situation but failed to do so. A few points make big differences in those kind of matches. Get over it Orangefield and orange leader you won, move on because you'll need all you have for the Horns.
