  1. Finally, another Highlight Reel WR has arrived at Nederland. First we had Sean Yoder, then Jake Askew and Josh Atterberry, and perhaps the brightest and most talented of the names mentioned, Ryan "Riverboat Gambler" Butler. And now the Nederland faithful may sit back and enjoy what seems to be the next fleet-footed flanker of the Bulldogs, #21 Asa Cardenas. The kid is putting up some killer numbers this year. In the Vidor game alone he had 8 catches for 133 yards and 2 TD's, and he also threw a TD. I tend to believe that he has 6 TD receptions in 4 games. If I may pose a question, "Matt Johnson who?". But I get ahead of myself and digress from my point. Asa will have a challenge this week with a very speedy and greedy Jaguar secondary. We can only wait and see what the jack of all trades will bring October 5th at BMT Central.
  2. I can not wait until Friday night when after all the festival stuff is finally over, and we get to play some football. This Friday night at Bulldog Stadium is gonna be a blast. Being able to watch the Dogs put it to the Deck Hands is gonna be exciting to watch. Bum might have to give Vidor a half time speech, if he's not already asleep at the half because of a blowout... ;D Nederland 35 - Vidor 6
  3. I think that he did the right thing by standing up for Bobby Reid.
  4. I don't know what you're talking about Titan, but Bass is legit. He was finally back to 100% when Nederland played Waller. He had a little over 70 yards on 8 rushes, and 25 receiving yards on 2 receptions. He would've been around the century mark in rushing yards, but he had 2 15+ yard carries called back for holding. The reason he was getting stopped against Brenham was because there were 3 or more guys in the backfield every time he touched the ball. And every time he got a carry he broke the first tackle and then would get neck-tied by the next guy. I think you should know the whole situation before opening your mouth, PATitan.
  5. I think that Nederland will be seeing what works for the playoff run they're gonna have by that time of the year. BTW, do yall have a basketball game on that day or something?
  6. The names I orignally put on the list were the TD reception leaders from our area according to the Houston Chronicle. I didn't see Smith or King in the stats, but both of them are good WR's.
  7. Should be a quick game then, since both teams tend to enjoy running the ball. I would like to see Roman Franklin throw some, Lord knows he torched the Dogs last year. I think all of his passing TD's came against Nederland last year...lol.
  8. Hey Coop, do you any of the individual stats for Livingston? Rushing, Passing, Receiving...etc?
  9. I figured since some teams are on a bye week, maybe I could stir up a friendly debate. I was able to get some stats from the Houston Chronicle, and these were our area's receiving leaders, by TD Receptions. I am sorry if I have left anyone out, but feel free to add a name to the debate. Name Team Rec Yds Yds/Catch Long TD Asa Cardenas Nederland 14 250 18 64 4 Joshua Powdrill Beaumont West Brook 12 295 25 0 4 Victor Spikes Beaumont Central 11 189 17 56 3 Hunter Davis Hardin 17 173 10 0 3 Daniel Marsh Hardin 18 307 17 0 3 Aaron Credeur Lumberton 4 99 25 0 2
  10. Don't know what Livingston has, but any team that's 3-0 should be a test. Vidor is normally tough at home, I guess 22-4A will know what Vidor has after this game.
  11. Bend but dont Break!!!! I'll take that any day of the week. Bellow will improve over the next 2 weeks before going into district, and hopefully out O Line will work on run blocking. We need to feed the rock to Bass more often, give him a lane, and the boy will break it loose. Good job Dogs, enjoy the win, and work hard these next 2 weeks!
  12. No ties to Bass, just been watching him to develop over the years. Oh yeah, that 300 yards in a quarter was in a Freshman game last year. If you want to spit Thursday night stats, Bass had over 1800 yards on the JV last year in about 7 games. That's JV/Fresh Thurs. games, so who cares. Bass was effective on Varsity last season, and just hasn't had the blocking to break it open. Then again he has had a hip contusion the past couple of weeks. Look for him to have a good game on Friday.
  13. My assessment are partially made from last year's performance, and most of the analysis is from non district games. With all due respect, I just don't see Vidor doing much.
  14. Paul Roy is definately not the best back, and the kid tries to break it outside every freakin play. ROY HAS NO SENSE TO RUN WHERE THE PLAY IS DESIGNED TO RUN. Remember Bass wasn't even supposed to play until district started. I think That CAmeron is going to have a great game on Firday, since he is back to 100%.
  15. Ozen was once a 20-4A powerhouse, but struggeld in the newly formed District 22-4a. It will be interesting to see how they will fair in the district race, and I am pretty sure they will do more damage this year than last year. LCM and PNG have alot to prove this year, but in two different perspectives. LCM has got themselves a fairly new captain (Moody) that has supposedly been righting the ship, but the Battlin Bears have gone 0-2 out of the box. And PNG was boasting one of the area's best backfields coming into 07, but has yet to put a single point on the board. QB tends to be the area in question with 22-4A front runners. Central has a new QB in Hobbs, who is taking his lumps in non districct play, but has the help of stud RB Derrick Hall and WR Spikes. Nederland is going into their second game with their newly acclomated field general, Kirby Bellow, who threw for 4 TD's, but with less than a 50% completion rate. Dayton will be galloping into their first match-up without their heralded Cody Green, and Dugat assumes the role of QB. I just don't see Lumberton making much noise at all, and Vidor will more than likely be trampled on by everyone in the district. This year in District 22-4A, it is going to be anyone's ball game.

  17. Paul Roy will be good in the future, but as for right now he is just a capable back up for Bass. Cameron Bass is obviously the most talented RB in the bunch, and since he is back to health this week, I seem him getting the majority of the carries on Friday night.
