  1. :)Jasper wins 57 - 43. Jasper played with 7 players tonight. Coach Baker had to adjust his teams style of play according to his personnel. great job girls and Coach Baker coach a fine game tonight. Jasper lost some players to grades, but they will be fine. Brandi Goff had a great night putting in 24 pts and 9 boards. It was great seeing Coach Orebo back on the sideline.
  2. Good win for Jasper on the road against a good group from Hemphill.
  3. Jasper has alot to prove, i agree. but remember its just rankings right! I can feel your pain, but everyone's time comes around. this team was a doormat for the past 2 years. This team is loaded with juniors and a good group of Soph. so remember many of you said last year that this team was a couple of years away from being good. Time has arrived!!!!, and like everyone else it dosen't matter where you start it's where you finish!!!!!!!. I think that 5th is high, but we're honored up here in Jasper. So guys, i guess this is why we play the games on the court!!!!
  4. The Jasper Lady Bulldogs hosted scrimmages today. Silsbee, Leesville, and Hamshire - Fannett were there. Leesville got by Silsbee 41 - 35. This was a good game as both teams hit the floor for the first time this season. In a very fast pace game Jasper slips past HF 29 - 28. All the teams played good games. Are there any other scrimmages to report from today?
  5. Hello to all of the great BBall fans of 21 -3A. being in this district for the past 2 years has really helped our LadyBulldogs up here in Jasper. We are excited about the season. it seems like yesterday when we were talkin about the 08 - 09 season and wow it's here! looking forward to communicating with you all throughout the season. Good Luck!!!! ;D
  6. Courtney Baker Sophmore, Jasper (Shooting Guard) she'll be a good one next year!! I hear that she will be playing AAU ball this summer. Breeuanna Hafford, will be great on defense. Sophmore, Jasper Michelle Wallace, Sophmore, Jasper, gutsy player. she plays bigger then she is!! I hear that that entire team will be playing AAU ball.
  7. This is a thank you note for all of the teams in 21 -3a. Thanks for making our Jasper lady bulldogs better for seasons to come. Hats off to the greatest Coaches and players of this district. Thanks for the high level of competition every Tuesday and Friday nights. OF, HJ, Silsbee go get em' in the playoffs. Once again Thanks!!!!
  8. Great game!! furious comeback by the lady bulldogs. Hats off to Silsbee and coaching staff, and good luck in the playoffs. This truly was a great game to watch. I learned something about this team from Jasper, they are very scrappy, and tough. They should for next year. Best wishes to all of the seniors of the lady tigers.
  9. who has held her to 20pts, which i admit is a good night. tell me if you lose 4 of 5 starters in a game what are the chances you win the game. it's going to be a good game, look forward to chating with you on tomorrow night, and congrats to Orangefield on a great season, hope you guys get to Austin!!
  10. nine points, where is the big gap in talent? Yeah i agree that anything is possible. as we all know this is why you play the game. It's our last game in 21 - 3a, and its nice that we are playing Silsbee.
  11. the first game was a great one it went down to the last 2:05. 4 of Jasper starter fouled out of that game. it's going to be a good one. do you think Jasper has a Shot! Let's hear it.
  12. Good win for the lady bulldogs. Anna Nation had 18 pts. and 20 boards. Breeunna Hafford had 10pts and 12 boards. Keep playing hard Jasper.
  13. Courtney Baker of Jasper. sophmore hit 29 against Bridge City in a 75 - 71 double OT win. hit 3pt shot with 6 sec. left in regulation to send the game into it's first overtime.
  14. It's going to be very interesting to see this team from Jasper next year, they will be returning 9 from this years team and the majority of them are soph. There are a couple of girls that are on the JV team that will be a fine addition to the varsity squad next year. Courtney Baker the young pg for the lady bulldogs will be a good one to watch. I remember at the beginning of the season many of you were right on when you said that this team was a couple of years away from being good. I believe you all were correct.
  15. This was a great game to see, i enjoyed every minute of it. The Gym was simply electric. Great win for Jasper. The correct season record for the Ladybulldogs is 9 - 15 overall, and 2-8 in district play.
  16. Game had to be postponed due to the fact that only 1 ref. showed up for a district ballgame.  ???
  17. It doesn't matter where you play, just come ready to play. This was a very good game played by both teams. I would say from a fan stand point that Jasper doesn't get its fair share of calls as well. With 2:04 left in the ball game Silsbee was up by 5 points, and anyone that was there would tell you that the refs did a good job, but we felt that our girls should have gotten some calls late in the ball game. Ang is a terrific ball player and the lady tigers have an outstanding team. It ticks me off a bit when you say just because you're in Jasper that you're going to get hammered. They just didn't give Ang alot of breathing room. I as a fan respect every team in this district, because of the level of competition. One thing about this Jasper teams is that they are getting better. Would it be fair for me to say don't expect to get any calls in OF? The coach is teaching these girls the game of basketball, and that's what we are seeing. Great game Silsbee, we are looking forward to the next one!
  18. It's been a long time coming for the Lady Bulldogs, and they finally got their first win in district play. congrats to the girls. You are doing a great job Coach Baker keep it up. ;D
  19. Jasper lost the early game to Shepherd, then beats Scarbough 50 - 36 they will face Houston Reagan tomorrow at 10:30am. Silsbee beat Forest Brook Easily forget the score, but lost to Wheatly by 3, i believe it was 49 -46. Kirbyville lost Reagan in the7:30 game tonight. H - F beat liberty 76 - 24 in their 2nd game. all of 21 -3a teams are 1 -1 in the tourney except Kville. hope to have scores tomorrow, but i just got phone calls on who won.
  20. i have been reading these comments, bleedorange i agree with you 100%. everthing starts with fundamentals, i see what Coach Baker has to deal with up here with the expectations of others. He like coach Smith is doing a great job. coaches work with what they have, and when you have a good feeder program such as little dribblers it helps. to me these programs are essential for the future of Jr. high programs, and high school. sometimes we want the coach to make gold out of brass. some programs are light years behind. i see where students go to junior high and sign up for athletics to play basketball, and they never played before. then the coach has to deal with parents who never invested one summer, or signed their kid up for little dribblers programs, but expects the coach to take their kid and make a superstar. Its not going to happen, I like what our coach is doing in Jasper, they won 1 game last, but we believe that he has what it takes to build a good program, and we see the results already this year. the team doesn't have a winning record this year, but he has them at 5 - 8, they recently won the last tournament they played in. All i'm saying is that rome wasn't built in one day! Just like in Nederland, in Jasper girls Basketball isn't tops, but there is some excitement stirring. I can say this and I believe this with my whole heart, If parents would take the time to invest in developing their kids through the various camps that go on around the area, and if you have a kid with special skills then make sure that the skills become enhanced through the different camps, so that high school programs can become what everyone in their communities expects them to become. I think that Coach Smith is doing a fine Job, guys just be patient, we'll be patient here in Jasper, because we have a fine coach who is working with our girls to make them winners.
  21. I believe that the 3rd spot is up for grabs. I saw Orangefield last night against Jasper, and I believe that Jasper will contend for that 3rd spot. But they have to get on track next against BC and HF, both games they can win.
  22. They beat Shepherd, and Big Sandy. Coach Baker is doing a great job with them this year. they are 5 - 7 on the year.
  23. The lady Bull Dogs came away with the championship in the Goodrich tournament beating Conroe JV 46 - 40. Courtney Baker won Tournament MVP, Shelithia Middleton, Breeunna Hafford, Brittany Goff received All-Tournament selections Michelle Wallace played an outstanding game especially on the defensive side of the ball. This was a great win for this team, and they played hard. Great Job!!!! ;D
  24. the Lady Bulldogs will play in the championship game tomorrow at 6:00 pm against the winner of the Goodrich/Conroe game. congrats lady Bulldogs!!!!! go get em' tomorrow.
