  1. Legacy Board is scared of this game. Made the Cathedral staff cancel the game a year ago. The kids on both teams wanted the game badly, as did the parents of the kids. Board couldnt handle the thought of losing to Kelly so they cancelled it - 6 months after it was scheduled.
  2. Quality programs that are associated with quality coaches are usually supported by strong Administrative support. Schools or districts that are weak administratively rarely have long term football success nor do they succeed in keeping quality coaches. Quality programs with quality coaches are usually supported by quality administrative support. The schools mentioned on this forum that frequently change coaches or those we refer to as being "headed in the right direction" every 3 or 4 years will usually lack strong administrations. IMHO you can't succeed without strong administrative support. We have quite a few schools in our area that are headed in the right direction every 3 or 4 years but never seem to get anywhere.
  3. Ask him, he and his parents will tell you they wanted to follow his coach. Nothing illegal about it, they will also tell you that their plan worked - Joe got that scholly. Westbrook didnt have $7,000.00 - $8,000.00 in registration and tuition fees to offer he and his family. To get most families to consider the change the obsticle of the cost of tuition, registration and uniforms has to be adressed - meaning paid for. Kelly has a network to meet these needs - they do it blantently and it has been effective. Throwing the "they all do it" over it doesnt minimize the fact that Kelly blantently does it. Since money is involved with it there is always a money trail - which makes Kelly vulnerable should they ever be audited or investigated by TAPPS. My opinion is that they are relatively safe because they are isolated in Beaumont where there are no TAPPS teams competing with them for kids. Warring AD's is usually the root of TAPPS complaints and greviences.
  4. Most if not all Private Schools offer financial assistance - which is in no way unethical as long as the application process is consistently applied. This practice as you describe it is not illegal either. That is not the discussion. The discussion is whether Kelly offers financial assistance to certain students due to athletic purpose. And like it or not - Kelly boosters do practice this. The school does not care where the tuition payments come from, and yes these kids that do receive it do follow the application process as do all recepients of financial aid. Call it what you want to - but if boosters are making tuition payments on behalf of families of student athletes for the purpose of attracting them to Kelly High School it is recruitment. And yes, it is illegal. now, giving financial aid to a ballplayer just to get him here...I am 100% against it! I'd rather go 0-10. I can appreciate your stance against recruiting and going 0 - 10. But I know of a few current Kelly boosters and parents of Kelly athletes who are not going to go 0 - 10 in football, basketball, mens baseball or womens softball. It is what it is.
  5. This is too funny - Kelly doesnt recruit. TAPPS rules prohibit affiliated schools from contacting or recruiting student athletes that are currently in High School - they can legally recruit / or talk to Jr High kids. I have first hand experience with Kelly supporters offering high school enrolled kids financial aid in an effort to recruit them to their school. The financial assistance steps are in place to cover their behinds if they are audited by TAPPS - because they do offer financial assistance to students other than athletes. Im not bashing you for recruiting - you need to to compete. Im bashing you for denying you offer financial aid to athletes - and act as if its avaliable to anyone on an equal access - bull. You currently have 1 player I know of who's father offers financial aid to football players to enhance his own sons team and opportunities. Kelly offers scholarships / financial aid to athletes - fact.
  6. The final score of this game depends solely on how soon Coach Williams calls the Rebels off. Rebels by many.
  7. Anyone with any updates to this final score? Just curious if there was a change from the half-time score of 38 - 6?
  8. There were not multiple D1 caliber players at Cathedral. There was one and he was a tackle.
