Guerrero tops Rios in Home Run Derby final SAN FRANCISCO — The Angels' Vladimir Guerrero won Home Run Derby at AT&T Park, defeating the Blue Jays' Alex Rios in the finals. Guerrero needed just three home runs in the last round for the win after Rios, who had more coming into the final, hit just two in his turn. St. Louis slugger Albert Pujols almost earned a shot to face Rios. He hit his last ball of the second round to the warning track, allowing Guerrero to keep a spot in the finals of Home Run Derby. Rios had 17 homers through two rounds and Guerrero had 14. Pujols and Colorado's Matt Holliday both had 13 through two rounds. Holliday, Guerrero and Rios all had five home runs in the first round. Minnesota's Justin Morneau and Pujols both hit four, but Pujols advanced to the second round with two homers in a bonus round. Milwaukee's Prince Fielder and Philadelpia's Ryan Howard both had three and Detroit's Magglio Ordonez hit two. Holliday replaced Florida's Miguel Cabrera earlier today.

The top two teams from each pool in the big school bracket advance to the Championship bracket while the bottom two go to the consoliation bracket In the small school the teams play 3 games and then are seeded based on pool results 1-32 to play in single elimination tournament.. every team will play 4 games minimum

They failed to qualify in a small school tourney, so then they went to a big school tourney and won it. They chose to play in the Big School Championship Tourney this weekend.

They each qualifed in a State Qualfying Tournment.

Anthony Fazio was selected to be a part of the Texas Rangers Area Code Baseball Team at the tryout July 2, 2207. Out of 450 Invitees throughout Texas, and Louisiana, Anthony was chosen to be one of the pitchers. This team will play other teams put together by various MLB organizations around the US. They will play in Long Beach California August 5 - 10. This is a tremindious entree for this young player.

I spoke to Burnett yesterday and he wouldn't tell me who the new DC is. He said he's hired someone but couldn't release the name until Wednesday.

What was interesting about Carthage is they played in 2 small School Tourny's and didn't qualify and then played in a Big School Tourney and won the thing.
