  1. Mid-County Medical Magnet. Boy that has a nice ring. Sure you help in footba....oh i mean, nursing.
  2. I guess you can't read Dickie. Or understand the UIL quote that I referenced. More than likely though, you just want to close your eyes and believe it's not true. You tell me in your own words what that UIL quote means then? You being the supporter of Ozen, Yates, or any other historically black school as you so racially stereotyped myself as being a fan of Ned, PNG, Vidor, Bridge City, etc. You must bring race into every discussion. Thats sad.
  3. You said it yourself DickieV. Both are magnet schools. So by the UIL's definition they should be in a 5A district...like Westbrook.
  4. No clarification needed. By definition, since both are magnet schools (and members of BISD, along with Westbrook), Central Medical Magnet and Clifton J Ozen Magnet H.S. should be 5A. It's as clear as day on the UIL website. Personally, I don't see how they get away with it. The rule was made to prevent competitive advantage for these schools. Image if Houston ISD or Dallas ISD was given the same advantage as Beaumont ISD.
  5. DickieV this is what you said: So regardless of where DeCarlos lives, he can attend Ozen now. Did Franks parents move within Ozen's boudaries? You say build it, and they will come (apparently no matter where they live within the school district). You have stated before that Ozen is a magnet school. That is why kids from outside of their boundaries can attend school there. Did you not read the UIL statement that I posted? Here it is again since you didn't catch it the 1st time: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A magnet or special school for academically gifted students shall be assigned to a conference upon the basis of the enrollment of the school in its member school district having the largest enrollment. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This means Ozen (being a magnet) should be in it's member school district having the largest enrollment (Westbrook). Therefore, I ask you once more...Why is Ozen not in 5A???
  6. If kids are allowed to attend the school of their choice without having to live within it's boundaries, then that school must be 5A in the case of Ozen. From UIL: is a resident of the member school district (see Section 442), and a resident of the attendance zone in which the participant school being attended is situated. Magnet School (like you say Ozen is Dickie): A magnet or special school for academically gifted students shall be assigned to a conference upon the basis of the enrollment of the school in its member school district having the largest enrollment. Therefore, why is Ozen not in 5A like Beaumont Westbrook? You should know this Dickie, since you were a coach and all.
  7. DickieV...why do you have to make every issue on here a black vs. white thing? Someone can't say one team is more disciplined than the other (in their opinion) without you bringing up racism. That is pretty weak. And you mean to tell me you can't tell what players or teams play with more passion than others? If thats the case, you should have never been in coaching to begin with. And I don't want to even try to argue why it's important to box out. If you don't realize that...well I don't know what to say.
  8. That is true. My point was Vidor had the game in control with a minute to play and the ball. But they had a very poor last minute, and you can't do that against a good team. Congrats.
  9. Nothing shaky about Central's win Soulja. They basically got lucky to get out of Vidor with the win. Central was down most of the game, including the last 1:10.
  10. As bad as the officials were (and they were pretty bad), it was not their fault Vidor lost. When you have the lead and the ball with 1:00 on the clock and don't get it done, then it's pretty much on Vidor. The Pirates should have closed them out, but didn't. But it was a great game, with a good crowd. Very entertaining. I hope Vidor continues to play with that kind of passion, because the playoffs will be in their future if they do.
  11. Ozen by only 15? That's not too much for a team with 3 Division 1 college talents on their team playing against a team with none. Good luck to Ned in pulling the upset. Ozen is very good, but beatable.
  12. Dayton stll has a Dugat and he's pretty dang good. AJ may not be as good as Henry in basketball (he's D1 in football though) but he's still the best Dayton has right now. Ronnie Powell is also a hell of a player. Dayton may be struggling, but they are still very dangerous. They would be worlds better if Cody Green had played this year as well.
  13. If Ozen played Central in marbles, I'd have to take Ozen. Because I'm sure Boutte would out recruit Rice like he does in basketball.
  14. I expect a great game like last year. Vidor will be tough at home. I say Pirates by a bucket.
  15. who is Dayton missing from football besides AJ Dugat? Will Cody Green miss all of bball season?
  16. whatdoiknow, how is vidor basketball shaping up this year?
  17. If you guys from Nederland think Dustin Hood or Brad Sullivan were better than Dustin Long, you are insane. Both were good QBs, but Long was on another level.
  18. I think Coach Robertson at Vidor also coaches freshman football.
  19. If you could choose any coach in 22-4A to coach your team, who would you choose???
  20. Coulda, shoulda, woulda...the final score was 7-0. Be happy you won. If PN-G has any kind of offense at all, they win that game. But they don't right now, and they didn't. Congrats to Crosby.
  21. Vidor has some nice pieces coming back. Chad Sims: He was 1st team all district last season, and from what I've been hearing he's continually improving. Jerod Williamson: Starter last season, very quick and a 3pt threat. Expected to have a much bigger role this year. Scott Howard: Starter last season as well, heard he's been shooting the ball very well also. Joby Riggs: Returning letterman, should get opportunity for big minutes this year. He's about 6'5" with a wide body. Roman Franklin: Starter last season, also is the starting QB on the football team. He'll be running the point again this season. Good athlete and leader. Other possible contributors: Jacob Williamson: Freshman, with the possibility of varsity this season. Very good shooter and good athlete. There are others as well expected to contribute. But that's 4 guys with starting experience back. Better things are hopefully to come this year for Pirate Basketball.
  22. Forgot to add that I thought the defense played great. LM basically scored zero 2nd half pts. (they actually scored with about 30 sec. left in the game). Great effort, and save for a couple big plays, nearly perfect. LaMarque was very fast, esp. the tailback, but we did a good job of containing for the most part. Great effort.
  23. First off, let me state that I am a PN-G fan. From a fan's perspective, our offense is once again very plain and boring to watch. Even from the shotgun, we only threw WR screens or dump offs to the RB. Nothing down the field except on two 3rd and longs which we connected on for the bulk of our passing yards. Also, I counted 5 straight possessions where we ran on 1st down (and we weren't getting much against that D). I thought Matt Burnett said this is the year he opens up the offense? If that was wide open, I hate to see the alternative. Also, I counted 8 false starts on offense. IMO, that's the sign of a poorly coached team. I think what I had the biggest problems with was the decision making on 4th downs. We go for a 4th and 20 in the 1st Q. But then later punt on 4th and 3. Later in the game we go for a 4th and 30! All of these possessions were with 5 yards of each other between the LM 35 and 40 yard line. And last but not least, with about 5 minutes left in the game and the score 12-0, PN-G has a 4th and 7 at the LM 40...and Burnett punts. I guess he was trying to only get beat 12-0 instead of trying to win the game. Very sad. I hope things change, but with the current staff...I doubt it.
