  1. I'll get things started......... As a coach whose goal is to better the skills of a player, the longer the I get to train them, the better they will be, so I oppose it. As a coach whose goal is to build a players' character that hopefully they will carry with them for the rest of their life, trying to teach them morals about what is right and what is wrong, sportsmanship, friendship, class, etc. , I oppose it. As a coach whose intention is to try to improve the quality of life for a players entire future by working to get them educated through college, I oppose it. As a coach who is trying to teach players what a commitment is, and how to honor a commitment, and stick with the commitments you make, and that decisions have consequences, I oppose it. As a coach, I, in fact, oppose it on every level. PERIOD.
  2. Cast your vote, and I open it up for discussion........ In your opinion, as a fan of the game of girls fastpitch, - Is it fair (honorable or acceptable may be better desciptors) to recruit players who are commited to a team or already on a roster to go play on another team? OR - Is it unfair (unhonorable or unacceptable may be better desciptors) to recruit players who are commited to a team or already on a roster to go play on another team?

  4. For me, the same holds true at ANY age and at ANY skill level! Isn't that why we, as adults, do it? ;D Kudos to HillGuy for making that point !
  5. FIELD #3 - The one WITHOUT lights........... If you could spray the (VERY little bit of grass in the) infield, and weed-eat the fences...................... ;D
  6. Looking at the relative heights of those 12U girls, in comparrison to the coaches............ Looks like CRUSH has found a replacement for the title of "Head Midget" - for when CC retires ;D
  7. On behalf of ALL of the Orange County athletes, THANK YOU for the coverage you have provided!
  8. I am not part of the mafioso.......... I didn't delete the WOS thread............ I didn't ban OSUE.......... Truth be told - I should have had my MOD status pulled a long time ago for letting a whole bunch of you get away with the stuff "WE" get away with on the softball side, and, YES - I included myself in that statement! As has been posted in several different places, several different times - - This is not a democracy! We have an owner, and we are supposed to follow HIS rules! - Posting here is not a right, but a priveledge! Cross too many lines, too many times, and you loose that right! I've spread the word around with the other MODS that for the most part, we ALL know each other, and we are aquantances on and off the field, 12 months out of the year. Because of those close personal relationships within a relatively small group, we get away with some things in the softball forum that would NOT be allowed in baseball, basketball, or football. So PLEASE - Don't make too many waves, because someone from outside the GFPSB world will try to come in and clean house, and I don't think any of us want THAT to happen!
  9. It's just one guy's opinion. Probably shouldn't bash anyone willing to help kids....Robert Verde is one of the best, but he isn't the only person out there who knows a thing or two. Give others some credit. I don't realy think he would want too uurrggg Not judgeing ,to each there own Every Child responds in a diffrent way ,to diffrent instructers .What may be great for one could ruine another . Blast was teaching mike epstien . It did help some kids, but just about destroyed others . We wasted all of the fall ,then went back to what we were doing . Find a method ,your child can learn and enjoys . If they do not feel comfortable at the plate and have to think about what to do at the plate ,they will fail . Both #6 and #17 from Nederland have taken from Green and JMO but both are pretty sucsessful hitters ,both lead the Bulldogs last season in Bat AVG. on the state runner up team ??? Ah, but runner-up by only a FEW INCHES! ;D
  10. Lauren Swift (Hardin-Jefferson / Orange CRUSH Birdwell) signed today with Bossier Parish Community College. The ceremony was held in the Hardin-Jeferson High School library this morning at 10:15. It was a great honor for me to be invited with her family, school faculty, and the entire Hawk team. Lauren is a GREAT young lady who never complains or says " I can't! ", and has always given me everything she had on the field. She has been an eager student, and her knowledge of the game has grown immensely over the past 6 months. I just wish we could have teamed up earlier in her Career! Lauren - Best of luck! I know there is a great future ahead of you! I have enjoyed our time together, and knowing you and your family has been a blessing to me. And THANK YOU for allowing me along for the ride! Coach James

  14. Best of luck! Your work ethic and desire have ALWAYS been an excellent example to those who want to follow in your footsteps, and I don't think I could offer any greater compliment than that! CONGRATS!

  16. Zoom - Unzoom the maps as needed to see what you want to see............ Yahoo! map: [Hidden Content] Link to TexasBob's Texas Football Stadium Database: [Hidden Content] Google map: [Hidden Content],+Texas+75949&ie=UTF8&ll=31.270958,-94.574904&spn=0.024503,0.053902&om=1 From the Satellite views, looks like it won't take much to fill up the Visitor's side. As usual, when BC travels, make sure that lawn chair is in the back of the car lol! See you there!
  17. The word at church this morning (in the parking lot) is there are 14 homes inside the Bridge City city limits that DID NOT get water. That's out of a population of just below 9,000. There are quiet a few homes out side the city limits but within the school district lines that did not water, but no more than about 40 or so, as far as I know. And while it breaks my heart to drive down every street and see the destruction, I am also proud to see the work going on at nearly home - Nobody is waiting with a hand outstrectched - we are working to put this town back together. And let me also add a THANK YOU to the Orangefield ISD and community for the help they have bestowed on us - In the spirit of neighbors and friends!
  18. We've heard this evening (speculation!!) that the water is now running around the sea wall in Port Arthur, and coming in around the ends. DO NOT know if it is true, just HEARD THAT!
