I am sure that Hicks is and will be a great athlete. But if you are going by the fact that he started as a freshman and did very well, well let's also look at Jasper's Parker Phillips. He started last year at third as a freshman and played very, very well also. Well enough to help Jasper win state. In fact he made some phenomenal stops and throws at third base. And he pitches also same as Hicks.

I couldnt find the record for just texas but the record for the nation is. 151 Lance Taylor, Athens Bible, 1998-02 That is easily within reason for Hart this year. ;D All he needs to do is average two steals every time he gets on base.

Taylor Hart, Jasper. He is now doing it all. He is only two or so stolen bases away from having 100 stolen bases for his varsity career. Additionally he is a power hitter who also knocks the ball out of the park occasionally. And now in his senior year he also is being called upon to pitch. Reportedly a Div I candidate all the way. But that is a homer choice because I do not know the players from other teams.

mammyj, thank you for the details. Just curious, do you know if Bronson scored from first, or was there a steal or two in between the fielder's choice and Parsons's single? Regardless, it speaks volumes about the speed of Bronson, as has been discussed in another thread.

Every game which was not a "scrimmage" counts. The first game that "counts" was the opener against Livingston on Feb 19. That and every game since then counts for record and for stats.

yes it is possible, and is getting pretty close to being done. Hart had three steals in one recent game, and that alone brings him to 94. He just needs two more games. ;D actually, stealing bases is about a lot more that raw speed. Hart somehow just always seems to make it, even when the throw is perfect.

Looky there 21-3A Hart had a down year on steals last year, maybe he's getting old. Much of that probably had to do with Bronson's ability to advance him with his bunts. That could cut down on his "need" to steal second. Regardless, adding up 22, 35, and 34 I got 91 steals going into his senior year. He would have to have a complete meltdown not to get to 100. How many does he have already in 08?
