  1. well the Big Gander sat in the rain and watched the Westbrook Bruins come from behind and win. WB has an impresive and athletic looking team, but could someone teach them to hold onto the ball!!!! 6 fumbles, at least 3 lost kept SoHo in the game. SoHo had at least 5 Louisiana Stars on their team, according to former SoHo AD/Head Coach, who coached the Big Gander in HS. And man were those kids good. Athleticicsm will lose if you can't stop the fumbles. Congrats Bruins and good luck next week!
  2. Well the Big Gander is a tired Gander after 12 games working the clock and 2 games on the book during the Baytown Tourney. But here are the results as best as I can remember. 1st Place went to 3a Hardin-Jefferson. What a great team they have and an awesome coaching staff. Expect them to go far!! 2nd place was 5a Galveston Ball. Very athletic , but lack teamwork 3rd place 5a Lufkin- Really good team. They refused to shake Baytown Lee's hands after victory. Also pressed until final buzzer, up by 30 and called 3 timeouts in last 2 minutes. HELLO!!!!!!! 4th- 5a Baytown Lee- Young and athletic team. If the mold together as a team, they could be heard from. 5th place 4a- Livingston. Holy crap this team is good. Have a freshman and sophomore STAR. Might have been best team there, lost a buzzer beater to fall into this game. Consolation Champion was Port Arthur Memorial. Very athletic and will do realy well this year. Only loss wasa last second shot against Livingston I also want to congratulate all 17 teams for a well played weekend. I know some went 0-3, but your teams played hard. I saw Huffman play the 4th quarter late with 4 players, foul problems, and 2nd Baptist went 2-2, with I bet you the wealthiest and nicest team there. And I want to shout out to the Big Ganders HS Sam Rayburn, who went 2-2, with the new coach from Warren. They played hard and just ran into some more athletic teams.
  3. Don't remember all the scores , but here are some results Baytown Lee crushed Huffman like 65-14 Hardin Jefferson beat Friendswood PNG beat South Houston by 5. SO HO had wrong uniforms, so PNG got 15 technical foul shots. Hitchcock whipped Dayton by 20 plus Livingston made a last second shot to beat PA Memorial. PAM had lead and ball with 10 seconds and lost Crosby beat Texas City, on a a last second free throw Then Crosby got spanked by Lufkin, by 20 plus South Houston beat Huffman in losers side game, by 18 plus 2nd Baptist beat Galena Park Galveston Ball won big Those are just a few games. Tomorrow. Baytown Lee takes on PNG at 11am. Lufkin and Livingston tangle, Ball plays 2nd Baptist. Hitchcock should get Hardin Jefferson all on the winners side.
  4. BH was up 12-0 at half, and sored 35 in the 2nd half, with some big turnovers. Scored on a wild play, when Huffman's kick off returner fumbled into the arms of the Kicker, who took it to the house.
  5. Should be a good one!! If Huffman can stop the crazy penalties and limit turnovers, this will be a game. If Andrew Little runs like he has been running and Carmona and Bradshaw throw like they have been, BH might put up 50. I saw BH and Smiley score 95 points last week combined, this might do the same. I bet the team that scores the most wins!!!
  6. wow, what a football game at the hill. 14 touchdowns. Smiley's Offensive Lineman Kicker made all 7 extra points, and BH's kicker missed 2, and missed a 2 point conversion. There must have been close to 1000 yards offense in the game. A hook and lateral with 1 second in the game, gives Smiley the win. Galena Park is in 1st now, undefeated Crosby is in 2nd with a loss to GP Smiley should be tied with Crosby with 1 loss Barbers Hill now has 2 district losses Forrest Brook, New caney , CE King and Huffman all have 1 district win a piece
  7. Its interesting to see all the predictions and all the smack talk. Let us not forget, that these are teenage boys, playing a violent sport and the outcome is irrevalant to the big picture in life. I teach Jarvis Moore and what a wonderful young man he is. His broken leg is unfortunate, but he will recover and play next year in college. He is not the total Lee offense, but was a major part. Lee will continue to play good , or in some eyes, weak football without Jarvis. Westbrook, will play good football also and at the end, 100 plus teenage boys will shake hands and go home, and on Monday morning show up for what they are really in school for an EDUCATION. I will be in Westbrook Friday night cheering on the Lee Ganders and ALSO cheering on the Bruins. Its just a sport!!!!!
  8. The rezonong wars are still going on. Sterling will lose the most to memorial, Lee loses some kids to Sterling. The new school is located off of I10. Its on Wallisville, between Main and Garth, behind the Cracker Barrell, area. The rezoning is not settled though. Lee and Sterling shouls stay 5a, Memorial should open 4a
  9. 2a Mart runs it extremely well. But Vince Young and his Madison teamates had a pretty potent offense
  10. wow must have been a crazy 2nd half. Last report on TV was 14-6 Smiley in the 4th
  11. Played against Thurman Thomas, vey impressive. Seen a few after him, like Vince Young. Drew Tate, and Jamal Charles to name just a few
  12. Any score from Smiley and Crosby?
  13. Santa Fe wins their 1st game, Huffman drops to 1-2
