  1. All I will tell you lace, it doesn't matter if it is second string or mpr player.  If the score is greater than 40.  There will be consequences.  Your only option is to intentionally try not to score.  I do agree that it is not right to try and start someone else only to bring in your better player latter on to circumvent the rules.  I do not know what really happened in this situation so can't speak to that.  I do know that the rules are interpreted to say if score has a margin greater than 40, try NOT to score.
  2. that was a joke for whisperer. calm down no ill will.  that was his old team.  sorry
  3. btw late 70's early 80's groves Browns -80 v Lee elementary Cardinals
  4. well since you asked and this isn't in the right forum, I figured it out that the only reason hawk is doing well this season is because you trained those boys for years and taught them what football is all about.  by going to 2 teams, he added a few key players to make a run at it.  I think he needs to say thanks for what you have put in his lap.
  5. bmt b-16 lum r-12 lcm -18 wos-14 of w -6 pngp-20 ned w -29 lum w -30
  6. bobcat, I like the analogy.  don't necessarily agree, but your point is well taken.  madmen, you go girl/boy.  well thought out post.     bobcat, I could go on for days about how the league imposed their rules and what they didn't do as to make it unfair, but it is pointless.  I think you for one have some insight as to what may have happened, yet you are blinded by what you have heard or read.
  7. whisperer, chirpy, great post! there are coaches that know how to control the game.  In other words, they know how not to score.  That is not what the freaking rule says.   Obviously teams can do that, but that is not what the rules say do nor the board says do.  If that is what they want, just say it.  can you at least see that point.  I can explain it to you, I just can't understand it for you.
  8. whisperer, the coaches card was directed at whodat!  control yourself.  I don't think you are whodat78 or did you slip up on that one. I agree, I think black will beat white.  they have several returners mixed in with some fast 9's.  It will be a good game though.
  9. Whodat78, change your name to Fruitloop!  Do you have any idea what the dominant teams from PNG peewee, Bmt senior, Ned jr are doing.  Do you have any idea that they are playing 2nd and 3rd string line and backs in 2nd quarter forward.  I think your first line says it all, "I hear all these post".  Go see what they do.  Oh my, people like you are clueless.  I agree just follow the rules!!!!!  But the STJFL also has to uniformly enforce them or at least have rules in place that coaches know, instead of being arbitrary.  I assume you are one of those that is just happy to get a trophy at the end of the year.    Talk to one of those winning coaches that really prepares their players and actually teaches football, maybe they will give you a few pointers so you can see how it is done.    Whisperer, Fruitloop needs the clueless award for the year.
  10. Lamar this board is good to vent and tell others what really happened.also it is the only way to tell members of stjfl board because they don't call the coaches to find out their story. Nor do they return emails, text etc
  11. I am sure it will be reviewed and the coaches talked to before they make a decision.  And no even though they didn't talk to the coach of Nederland before suspending him, things will be different with bmt.  They should not do anything to them.  I think there was a pick 6 involved and that makes a difference apparently.  Who knows with this board what they will do.  I hope nothing, but it is Lumberton and would bet unlike others, they file a protest.   Have some clear rules STJFL.  There were a lot of 39 point games with people kneeling the ball. That really changes "spirit of the game".  It also really teaches our kids what is right.  Strange that some on the board say you can score, yet others say DO NOT SCORE coach.    Strange that most coaches and parents don't agree with what STJFL does but things don't change.  I thought they represented what their association wants.  I think more parents should show up at the local association and STJFL meetings and have an input.  good luck finding where they meet though.
  12. What about other scores? What about png w or bmt games
  13. I agree with you about personal names etc.  I partially disagree with you about the open meetings act.  The STJFL adopted it in their bylaws and filed it.  I think they are bound to follow those rules for various reasons.  No need to have a debate on here.  The coaches of Ned and bmt have put this to rest.
  14. boys of fall, don't be a knucklehead.  you sound just like them.  "there are other ways to control the score".  you obviously didn't realize that it doesn't matter how many you score.  the board isn't saying don't score.  and no ned was not out there to prove a point that game. they weren't playing Bugatti's crew and needed revenge or something.  You are right about one thing though------  The true intention of the board, that they just wont say, is try not to score.    I am not sure how much knowledge you have about the whole situation, buy I would bet that it is just about as much as the board had when they made their decision (not much).  I was hoping this situation would drop. Whisperer, I thought you said this was the spread thread? boys of fall go get back on the boat where you obviously have been for too long.
  15. By the way whisperer, it is very hard to hear from anyone what happens at the secret meetings of the board unless you try not to.  Did you know that word on the street is that they really said that ned should have put their backup kicker in to kick extra points.  Now that is funny!!! Oh and despite what they say, they want you to try and not score.  Hence, the discussion that at least one of the plays the kid ran outside.  Hmmm, I wonder if this back that did that was one of the 10 play players that had never run the ball and didn't know better.  I thought that didn't matter anyway.   sorry to ramble, it just baffles my little pea brain!!!!!
  16. oh sorry whisperer, didn't mean to get off base.    STJFL-50 v. ned w we will need another review
  17. I find it interesting that the Nederland white coach from what I understand was never called by whomever did the investigation to hear his side of the story.  I also understand that he still has not been told HOW he violated the rules accused of.  Great investigation.  It smells.   The board just needs to go ahead and adopt a rule that says if you score more than 40 you will forfeit the game.  The rules now are so subjective that it is not fair.  STJFL  just be honest and say you want teams to try and not score if that is what you really want.  Your actions speak louder than your words.  you say one thing and do something else.   Did you know that Article V Sec 4 of the STJFL bylaws says that the board is governed by the "Open Meetings Act" which requires that time and date of meeting and what is to be discussed must be posted.  I haven't been able to find where the board has ever done this.  And yes last Wednesday was a regular meeting and not a special called meeting.  Any decision made when in violation is null and void.  It is also a crime to violate the open meetings act.
  18. the rules don't say not to score.  the board doesn't have a number that you can't score. the board doesn't tell you to take a knee. the rules nor the board don't day try and NOT score, they say don't do that.  boy is it really fair to either team to tell the kids if you intercept a ball run out of bounds?  should a team insist that they fumbled a ball so the other team  could have it when they clearly didn't fumble it.  The kid running ball is the smallest on the team and was gaining 5-9 yards per carry at that point in game.  had to take out one "10 play player" because he almost broke one for a TD.   explain the rules eyes since you know them so well.  did you even see the game?
  19. hey eyes, im not sure if everyone really does know the rules.  I doubt you really do.  I think there are some real rules that tell you what to do when up then it becomes blurry.  this statement is not a slam on you by any means by the way.  I know what the rules say, just not sure what the interpretation to some of the rules are.   I assume you know that the bmt coaches did not have a problem with the sportsmanship of Nederland white when they played and vidor didn't either.
  20. come on whisperer, time for next weeks predictions.  I have a few that may surprise even you
  21. I hear u and agree bmt has got a raw deal in past. I respect those coaches and what they do
  22. Y'all will win some games pride. With a few tweaks y'all will b fine. Hard to know what to expect first game
  23. 2nd string line and 3rd string backs in before half. Guess they should have taken knee the whole 2nd half. They had kids that have never run ball before running ball bradyb. Also ref wanted to call the game at 3rd quarter but the bmt coach wanted to keep playing since it was his first game is what the ref told one of the coaches. There coach both coaches had class from what I saw. The bmt used the game to let kids play and learn and Ned let lot of kids play more than normally have played.
  24. He was small and had a younger bigger brother (David) that was on the 8U gladiators.  The 8 year old hit about 18 homeruns out of ford park and Houston.  they have a younger brother at the time was 5 (Mau). he is going to be a stud from what I saw.  they are still in Monterey.  What rounder said is true.  they did have to go back because his dad was having trouble running his business from Nederland.  They are a great family.  I haven't received any communication from them in 3 months now.  There was hope they may come back.  David and ruey both played for hiltz 10 U team
