Yes, there a lot of good coaches out there that Liberty could have chosen.  Foreman, Douglas, Speights are three guys I would have considered.  All three have coordinator experience and have a great repor with kids.  Foreman has been in the running for a while, just maybe Hardin Jefferson will give him his shot.  I have watched him first hand and his kids respond to him.  Speights, I heard was in the running at Anahuac and got passed over by this hometown.  A great athlete and heck of a coach I hear.  Think he was in Houston at Jersey Village as the DC and head boys track coach and is now in Fort Worth, North Crowley as the DC as well.  Anyone know where Douglas is these days, last I heard was Ozen.  I can remember the days when he played at U of H ...Didn't he commit to Florida first?  Anyways, whoever Liberty hires ...Good Luck ....
I agree, meet him before. Seems like a good coach (Speights), and heard that from other folks. You seem to be convinced. Don't know Foreman. Seems like all these guys would of at least got an interview. Douglas is at Ozen, that's last I heard. My brother in law felt the same way about Douglas and Jennings as coaches. Just a shame these guys don't get a look when you know they have been considered at other school a little higher up on the food chain than Liberty.

Or maybe next years circus/rodeo...  Probably good all those promising young guys didnt get considered. Liberty did them a favor. Be interesting to see who they feel is worthy.

 5.
I only got to see Newton play in the playoffs once last year and I was amazed at the amount of talent they had on the field. They really have a great program there to put that much talent on the field for such a small school.
Saw them in the playoffs that year also, very impressive. Great program.

 7.
Liberty will hire outside Liberty roots. They passed on former great Lib qb Donald Douglas whom I believe went on to be the OC @5a Bmt Westbrook nuff said ;)
I agree, D.D. would of been a great choice. Going outside their own is crazy, they need someone that cares past being a head coach and a pay check. I also heard another X-Grad from 1994 named Jennings applied too. This guy worked for Mike Leach at Texas Tech and has been a college and high school coordinator at several places. Who else are they getting that has that kind of football experience. Didnt Douglas play professionally after his U of H years?? These guys are obviously good coaches or wouldnt have the track records they have if they were not. Amazing Liberty!!
