2.
I'm willing to bet that when Dawson loses this game, they will act like Summer Creek after they lost...classless!
I beg to differ.  See you guys tonight.  I'll be the one in Red! Go Eagles!
 3.
Hmmm. They could have least gave equal time in the article.. And a couple photos of Nederland.. bias paper.  ::)
After I posted it, I thought y'all might take it that way.  This is the Houston Chronicle, Dawson is the home town team in this game.  Go back and read the PA articles, they focused on Nederland.  It's a regional thing, nothing more. Got to get to work so I can leave early to get to Reliant in time for the game!  I've enjoyed this forum even though I am one of the few Dawson fans, you all have been respectful to me.  Thank you! So, let''s get to Reliant and pray that our boys all play their best game and that everyone is safe in play and travel.  I'll see you guys on the other side. Go Eagles!!
 4.

How about  "Big Dogs"?
Sorry, that is taken. :)
Awww, you can loan it to them.  OK, The Dog Pound - how's that?
 5. Pearland HS has managed to stay at the top of their game also.  So, I don't think we pulled all of their talent.  Must be good youth programs and community support that is feeding all of these schools.  My favorite story is of Dawson's Tony Upchurch.  He is currently a junior, started playing football last year.  Never played before and is just a natural at it.  Do a Google search and read up on him.  Good kid with a lot of talent.  Must be a coach's dream to get a kid like that.
 6. I am not a football expert, just a Mom who has been to many games, so take my opinion for what it is worth.....  There were more experienced players last year, but self-discipline was much weaker.  I haven't gone back to look at stats, but Dawson gave away a lot of yardage last year in personal fouls and other stupid penalties.  I think I saw somewhere that we lost 43 seniors, obviously we have to fill some spots.  This year's team is not as "polished" as last year, but they have something I didn't see last year - they keep their heads in the game until the last second.  They don't give away tons of yardage to penalties. The talent and ability is there.  As I said earlier, lots of strong players on offense to mix things up and take the pressure off of White when needed.  But White is the workhorse.  The Defense does a great job in making the big plays when needed.  It's not the same team as last year, but they somehow manage to keep in the game and pull it out.  Sound familiar?  I hear you guys do the same.  I'm really looking forward to the game!
 7. I think Nederland will have a hard time keeping Dawson's score so low.  The offense is very powerful.  James White is the workhorse, no doubt, but you also have to consider Tony Upchurch, McDuffie, Sharp and a few others.  Dawson has quite a few offensive weapons that sometimes get overlooked.  Every team we have played have focused on White, yet he manages to push through to get the yardage when needed.  I understand N has a good defense, but Dawson's offense is more than a one man show.  On most teams, without a James White, these other guys would be the headlines. The Nederland Offense will have to score quite a bit to stay in the game.  Just my thoughts. Go Dawson Eagles!!
 8. wolf6151, Thanks for a positive message on here. So much more class then some of our Summer Creek fans. Nederland has an exceptional team as well and this game will surely not disappoint. This was a good game last year as well! We all like to talk big about our team and our kids.  After all, it is a sport and competition is what makes it so exciting.  But I don't think we have to put down others to raise ourselves up.  All of these kids, coaches, communities and parents have come together to support these kids.  There are lots of life lessons to learn in competition.  I want my daughter to always be fair in her observations and opinions.  I want her to learn respect for others.  No matter how you place, you must always have respect and appreciation for your opponent.  I only talk trash about another team with people I know well and who know me and know it is all in fun. Nothing wrong with being proud and believing in your team. Just always be respectful.  No need to give anyone more motivation to kick your butt! So, one more time, since it hasn't been said enough times on this SETX board - GO EAGLES!! Oh and Go Dawson Eagle Band (the other success story on the [s]marching[/s] football field.  ;D ;D ;D
 9.

Will they be selling tickets @ Reliant? Or do I need to drive up the road to PD's place to get them before friday? I gotta make this game, it's gonna be a gooood one. Then, It's off to Gupton Stadium sat morning to see our 'Cats play! Then, pro ball on sun. My w/e will be spent watching lots of high quality HS and NFL football!  ;D ;D ;D The Cat's owe PD a whippin' too after last year's quarter final game, so GO BIG NED!!!
They will be selling tickets at the gate for $13. Idk about Dawson High School, but in Nederland you can buy tickets at the school. Students $7 and Adult $10. It should be the same over there.
Tickets are available at the Dawson campus during school hours: $7 for Students, $10 for Adults and $13 at the gate.  Depending on how many tickets you are buying, it may be worth the trip to Pearland.
 10. Speaking as a Dawson parent, I can say most of us do not feel the game is in the bag or that this will be an easy game.  Nederland has proven that they can play and that they have a quality team. I saw an earlier post where someone mentioned the ranking being shoved in Nederland's face all week.  Well, my opinion about that ranking is that it is more of a hindrance than a help.  Being ranked #1 felt good for about 5 minutes and then you realize that it just put a big Bulls eye on your back.  It is a great motivator for every team that you play to be the one to knock down #1.  It should be a great game.  Our offense is powerful - sparked by James White (no secret there) - that kid is amazing and somehow always manages to get the yardage needed.  It will take more than a few field goals and a touchdown to beat Dawson.  Our defense is good and have made some incredible plays at  just the right time in some close games to change the momentum. I think playing at Reliant is a bit overwhelming at first.  But what a great experience for the teams!  I hope that both teams play their best game ever.  Congratulations to Nederland for once again making it this far.  I pray that everyone has a safe trip and a great time - win or lose. Oh, and Go Eagles!!
 11. I was going to try to use that excuse, but then I would have been called on the extra space.  DOH!  ;D
 12.
There coaches are former La Marque players and coaches. Good pedigree.......
Nice.  Wherever they are from, they have done an incredible job in a very short time with the Dawson program. By the way, it should be "Their" not there, but you did spell pedigree properly  8)
 13. Playing at Reliant was exciting for the parents as well as the kids.  This was Dawson's first time.  I was surprised to see the tailgating in the parking lot - glad to see so many people having fun before the game.  It was fairly easy to get good seats although we did get there pretty early to make sure.  Of course, this is Reliant and there are lots of good seats.  Of course, this guy could have whatever seat he wanted! 14. My apologies, I was confused about which game. It was at our game vs the Terry Rangers at Traylor Stadium when this happened on a Thursday night, Nov. 8. But everything else in that statement is true and correct. NOT GOSSIP. Never said they were bad guys, just that one or two of them talked a little too much trash and were asked to leave. that's all. Ok, so the way I "heard" it was a few of our players know some Angleton players.  They were leaning over talking to them telling them to win so that Dawson and Angleton could play against each other down the road.  They were there supporting Angleton.......  Some of the Angleton people started booing and yelling at them.  As kids will do, they got upset.  Someone complained and an officer asked them to leave.  They were escorted out.  Big Difference.  Also, did you ever stop to think that sometimes people are escorted out for their own safety?  Happens all the time especially in a crowd.  I'm not saying that is what happened, just saying not many probably know for sure. As far as your son's friend, it sounds like she started that argument.  Was it her place to tell them to  leave?  If she had minded her own business and not started something, your son would not have been put in a potentially bad position.  But these are kids and they do stupid things.  Heck, adults do too. My point is if you weren't there and didn't see it yourself, you can not say it is all fact.  Even if you were there and saw it all from a distance, you may have interpreted some things you saw, but don't know for sure.  You are getting a biased opinion from someone else.  Remember, there are always two sides to the story and the truth is somewhere in between. My point in all of this is that I find it sad that adults will sit around bashing kids.  I could easily say that the poor Dawson kids went in there to support their friends at Angleton and all of the Angleton fans were bullies and were yelling, booing and telling them to leave.  That may have some basis of fact in it, but isn't the whole story.  Let's get back to talking football- should be a great game!
 15. Watch some film from this year. There is plenty of footage from this past Friday. I don't think Dawson is as balanced this year, but the difference is in attitude and sportsmanship.  The team this year stays in the game until the end.  I have watched other teams try to start some scuffles this year without success.  Do the kids talk smack, I'm sure they do.  I doubt it is any worse than I have seen on this particular board  ;D  I've seen exaggerations of events that were just laughable.  I hope both teams play their best game Friday night. I can't wait.
 16.

Does Dawson still do their classless pre-game taunting of the opposing fans?
I think so... Some (a lot) of the Dawson football players showed up in our stands as a group to watch our guys play @ our first round game against Friendswood wearing thier Lettermen jackets so as to be easily noticed as they strutted accross the front of the stands. Most of them were cool and talked a little trash to people they seemed to know as they smiled, but one or two of them ended up in handcuffs because of how they were acting, hanging over the rail down front and trying to taunt our players on the sideline during the game. Also my son almost got into it with one of the players that got up in a girls (sons friend) face for telling him to stop his trash talking and go home. I think he was the one that got cuffed a few min later. They (Dawson) are VERY cocky, and need to be knocked down a few pegs.
This would have been difficult as the Dawson players were in Galena Park playing against Foster.  Please do not spread gossip.  The Dawson team this year is much more disciplined then in the past.  You can try to make them out to be the bad guys all you want, but I think it is more wishful thinking then actual fact.  The team is much more disciplined and isn't giving up free yardage on penalties as in the past. If you get the yardage, you have to earn it this year.
