  1. West Orange-Stark has not only the top defense, but also the top scoring offense in 4A-D2. You can't ask for much more than leading in points scored AND points allowed!
  2. If these statistics are correct, West Orange Stark has outscored every team on the list by 36 points and has allowed 26 fewer points than any team on the list: 2016 Class 4A Division 2 State Rankings(Includes 2016 Record, weekly rating, Points scored and Points allowed, Preseason rating, ranking last week, and 2016 Rating change (+ or -) of the weekly rating and the 2016 preseason rating ) CL-Dst Class 4A Division 2Team (2016 Record) WeeklyRating PF PA Pre-Rating LastWeek+ or - Next Weeks Opponent Pick1 4A - 12 West Orange-Stark (8-0) 188.53 429 23 180.60 1 7.93 Open 2 4A - 13 Geronimo Navarro (8-0) 176.54 357 106 160.31 2 16.23 3 4A - 15 Cuero (8-0) 174.12 356 49 171.00 4 3.12 4 4A - 7 Gilmer (7-1) 171.91 393 247 172.05 3 -0.14 5 4A - 2 Sweetwater (7-0) 169.80 378 112 167.02 5 2.78 6 4A - 7 Gladewater (6-1) 167.05 265 101 159.80 7 7.25 7 4A - 5 Celina (6-2) 166.42 390 155 169.48 8 -3.06 8 4A - 11 Bellville (6-2) 164.67 237 96 165.46 9 -0.79 9 4A - 3 Krum (8-1) 163.32 378 189 161.23 6 2.09 10 4A - 10 Giddings (6-2) 163.03 291 189 165.19 13 -2.16 11 4A - 1 Perryton (8-1) 161.63 388 154 153.97 14 7.66 12 4A - 2 Monahans (5-2) 161.14 297 189 157.66 16 3.48 13 4A - 13 Wimberley (7-2) 159.89 251 150 159.10 10 0.79 14 4A - 3 Iowa Park (7-1) 158.92 355 232 137.74 17 21.18 Open 15 4A - 15 Wharton (5-3) 157.62 249 125 161.16 15 -3.54 16 4A - 9 Lorena (5-3) 157.17 249 207 155.70 18 1.47 17 4A - 2 Midland Greenwood (6-1) 156.47 355 212 140.52 21 15.95 18 4A - 7 Texarkana Pleasant Grove (2-6) 155.97 166 242 156.61 24 -0.64 19 4A - 8 Jasper (6-2) 155.76 276 155 157.70 29 -1.94 20 4A - 7 Pittsburg (5-3) 155.20 311 277 164.44 11 -9.24
  3. I can't blame him. I avoid the boards for a few days after a loss - not because I'm a coward, but because it hurts and I don't want to think about it.
  4. Buddy, Bro, Chief, Cap'n, Slick, I'm calm! I was just responding to your coaching and playcalling tips. I wasn't sure if they were made in sincerity or in jest.
  5. If they don't throw the ball more than a few times, they have zero chance. Who have you watched run the spread against us? Curious. Who have you seen "punch them in the mouth" with success? Kennedale is the only team to score on our D, and it was 36-0 when they finally did.
  6. Allen McGooch? Yes, unless his cousins Kyle and Keith are in town.
  7. Perhaps, but they only managed 14 points against HJ. Having watched quite a bit of Liberty highlights the last few days, I don't see it happening.
  8. They just really didn't show up to play.
  9. Congrats to BYE, who tied for the second-highest point total against the WO-S Chain Gang defense this season!
  10. How is the Liberty passing game? Anyone have stats? If not, ballpark passing yards/game?
  11. I was shocked to hear the Liberty radio announcers describe next week as "a nightmare" in the postgame comments.
  12. Brilliant strategy. Go into the half behind by a point. Lull them into a false sense of confidence and then unleash hellfire upon them. The streets will flow with the blood of the nonbelievers.
  13. Clearly this Liberty team is at another level.
  14. By the way, the statewide Sideline2Sideline podcast gave yall props this week. [Hidden Content]
  15. The thread was started because it is our next game. We are off this week.
  16. Liberty is not state ranked. State rankings are determined by the AP poll. Liberty has not received any votes in that poll. I know they are ranked on DCTF. Yes, most schools would call earning an 8-0 record a very good year. They have a ton to be proud of. Two teams from a district being ranked in the top 10 is pretty common. You see it every year - sometimes even three teams. Our district pales in comparison to D2 7-4A with Gilmer, Atlanta and Gladewater or D1 9-4A with Carthage, Kilgore and Henderson. Guys, this is a football message board. Please don't wear your heart on your sleeve or expect people to go out of their way to avoid wording things wrong. Be proud regardless whether you are ranked or respected.
  17. In response to the original topic, I think most people check the official AP poll if anything. I don't know that I have ever checked DCTF's rankings. In fact, I only really look at that poll to see how the top teams fared that week. Congrats on a great year so far. I don't mean to sell your team short by predicting a very convincing win. While this might be the best Liberty team in a long time, this - so far (knock on wood) - is also the best WO-S team in a very long time, and we are talking about a team that made it to the state finals the last two years and has gone at least four rounds deep for several years before that. I just pray that none of the Mustangs are reading their own forum topics and press clips.
  18. I found two details shocking. First, this wasn't like Suh stepping over the O-lineman and "accidentally" stepping on him. This kid was several feet (if not yards) away from the scene of the crime and had to walk over with the sole purpose of hurting his opponent, who was defenseless. Second, his attack did not seem like a choice made hastily in the heat of battle. It was so calculatedly quiet and subtle that the refs just feet away didn'teven notice. I am all for giving the kid options. A harsher punishment - an extended suspension or even removal from the team - or a less severe (but still tough) penalty in exchange for a public show of contrition - maybe an open letter or statement of apology and some form of community service. A show of humility. Let him choose.
  19. And how are your statements in this thread different from those of the WO-S fans in the WO-S/Liberty thread? I am pretty confident that your game this week will be a good bit closer than your game next week.
  20. Fans of just about every team WO-S has played came into the week rolling their eyes at the "Mustangs are on a different level" talk and then started the following week trying to convince whomever was next on our schedule of that very same sentiment.
  21. I'm sure the defense plans to play. Liberty has its work cut out too. Some comparisons: Liberty has allowed 117 points through eight games. WO-S has allowed 23. That's a 94-point advantage for WO-S. Liberty has scored 278 points. WO-S has scored 418. That's a 140-point advantage for the Mustangs. Liberty won its three closest games by a combined 12 points. WO-S won its three closest games by a combined 111 points.
  22. For some reason, this thread reminds me of a quote: "A man doesn't automatically get my respect. He has to get down in the dirt and beg for it." from Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey
