  1. You dont have to apologize for bringing up the Warren catcher. He is one of the best in the area. I havent seen any better in our district, or for that matter even the 4A/5A teams we played early. Put him on a team that has experienced pitching and he'd shine like a diamond.......Its hard to throw runners out with a 5 step jump. This year he has just been a backstop.
  2. You named 7 quality atheletes in their various sports....McBee (excellent football and basketball player), Diego (football), Nash (basketball), Simms (basketball, but you are right, he throws as hard as our other pitchers), Carnelly (tennis, he never wanted to be on the baseball team this year, his heart wasnt in it from the jump), Kendall--not sure what he's playing. All of them are good kids and I wish them luck. All these guys are atheletic, but none, could come out and made a record changing impact on a baseball team. I've seen them all play. Granger....thats a different story.
  3. Again with the one liners? Do you even have a clue about Warren baseball? Or just having fun? Have you even seen a game? By this time last year, we had been run ruled about 7 times. That was with a more talented team. Just looking at the records, the coaching staff has made a diff.
  4. Why do you think Morgan is getting ragged on? He is old school, the same type of caoches I used to have. You do something wrong, he lets you know, you do something right, he lets you know........He is vocal and not afraid to call you out on mistakes. Some of the kids dont like that, tough luck. Get better, quit making the dumb mistakes and you wont hear it. He's trying to play a varsity schedule with a jv club. We have 3-4 kids who could make a varsity team anywhere, the rest seem to be just playing to have something to do..........The 3-4 we have cant overcome the lack of pitching. We are 3-4 in district, not bad with this team. It's not a strong district, but we arent a strong team. The kids that are griping, would still be griping if we were 7-0. They dont like the disipline, again, tough.............
  5. Wrong.....by the time you get to highschool, you should know, at least, who to back up and where to throw. This isnt tee-ball. An infielder back on heels? No movement before the pitch? Come on........This is basic baseball, the stuff you see on LL fields everywhere. I heard him comment on all of it. You cant blame the coaches if it doesnt get done. You can only sit so many for lack of effort.
  6. There is nothing wrong with the coaching staff at Warren. This is highschool ball and not LL. The ones complaining are the kids that have been coddled all their life and never had to answer for their mistakes. We are not "loaded with talent", there are some capable ball players, but not enough to make up for the lack of pitching. There is not a "buss load of talent walking the halls, choosing not to play because of the coaches", that is just false. The only kid not playing who could help is Granger, for the pitching. The coahces didnt commit the upteen errors against Hardin, the players did. The team came out dead and never got into the game. Infielders back on their heels, outfielders not backing up throws. People not knowing where to throw. The only spark in the infield was Kelly. He's always in the game and is going to be a quality varsity player. Levi in center, again did a good job.
  7. Warren wins 14-4 in 5 innings. A very good pitching performance by Caleb Sweeney and a very good offensive showing by the Warriors........
  8. The Warriors were in the Buna game until the last couple of innings. They had Anuhac beat and let them back in it. I gotta stick with Warren pulling out a close one with a high score---- 12-9.
  9. No doubt about the 2005 pitching. Wallace and Flores were a great combo, I have'nt seen the pitching to be the detrement I thought it would. Pitching didnt cost them this one. You are correct in that we dont have a dominant pitcher, but this district is much weaker than the teams we faced in 2005 and we have been able to scrape by on our hitting. We havent really seen a dominant pitcher either. Have you even heard of any in our distict? Not sure why Caleb wasnt put at SS after pulling him. THe only thing I can guess is that after pitching for 6 innings, the arm is not as sure on the routine throws, that was evident on the toss to the plate. In all fairness, Kelly had been doing a good job at short. Sure could have used his bat though.....Did Tucker hit for Caleb? I had already left by then, had to get to work.
  10. Gotta go with the Warriors, rebounding off a tough loss to give Buna a good game........
  11. 2 errors in the first 6 innings? I didnt see em. Man, I'd hate to play for that score keeper all the time. Would really lead to some low batting averages. Snowflake, you are correct. The Panthers did not lay down and die. They deserve their props for hanging in and doing what they had to do. Lovin sports---West and Parker, are in fact, hammering the ball. They had batted in the btm of 6th and werent due up yet. Glad to see Tucker hitting again. He should be the DH. You seem to have a problem with the catcher? I saw him save runs several times with balls in the dirt. The only problem I see is him throwing at times that he shouldnt. Johnny Bench isnt going to throw out some one with a 5 step jump. I havent seen the errors you speak of. The major diff I see between this team and the 2005 playoff team is the attitude. That team was loaded with seniors and they knew how to win. THis team will get there. To many quality young players not to have high hopes for the future.
  12. I was at the game and didnt see a problem with the coaching at all. We choked, pure and simple. We are a young team and hopefully will learn from it. The first six innings, they looked better than they have in years. Josh made a few good plays at 2nd and Kelly did good at short. Levi made some good catches in center and Harrington made a good play on a line drive to left, keeping a run from scoring. The Warriors had "NO" errors for 6 innings. That hasnt happened in a long time. They fell to pieces in the 7th, but its gonna make them a better team down the road.
  13. For 6 innings, the Warriors played errorless ball and were up 6-0. The top of the 7th, someone stole the Warrior team and replaced them with aliens A very good pitching performance for Caleb Sweeney went for not as the Warriors committed several errors and let Anahuac back in the game with an 8 run top of 7th. The mark of a young team, I guess...Just couldnt close it out.
  14. Congrats EC.....I was not able to make the game, but from what I've heard, Warren wasn't there either........No excuses, we got hammered!!!!!!!
  15. Gotta go with the Warriors in a slugfest......... Warren----14 EC--------11 Not to wish another team any bad luck but.......Scalp em Warriors!!!!!!
  16. Warren 12 Hardin 11 Final.......... Way to go Warriors!!!!!!!
  17. I had forgotten about Jimmy coming after basketball. He can be a good addition. Not sure I know Josh, but I'm sure he too is a welcomed addition. The pitching staff has suprised me. I understand the middle infield problems have worked themself out, good. The team should be in place to compete in this district. Looking forward to the season. This coaching staff has made a difference far quicker than what I would have thought.
  18. I dont know much about Hardin, but I have seen Warren play to their competition all season. Morgan and Willis really have done a fine job with a very young team. With just 2 starting seniors, I've watched them beat 5A Memorial and 4A Central, while losing to Sabine Pass. If the coaching staff is left alone to run their program, this is gonna be a district contender for the next several years. The kids and the program needed the stucture/discipline/integrity that this coaching staff is delivering.
  19. Gotta go with Warren......If they play to their abilities, this should be a good game.....Go Warriors!!!!!!!!
  20. It's difficult to hang with a good hitting team when your tossing up BP balls. Vidor is a class act and played well. Warren's middle infield is still having some problems, both fielding and mental errors. On the bright side for Warren---Levi West hit his 3rd HR in 3 games. Maybe its time to put him in the 3 hole. He's a great lead off man, but we're losing some RBI's there. Trey Babino, out of the 7 slot , went 2/3 and is 8/11 with a HR and 2 doubles in the last 3 games. These seniors are doing their jobs and as a whole the Warren team is improving every game. The pitching, allthough not overpowering, is throwing strikes and keeping the ball in play. The boys really seem to like this coaching staff and are looking forward to district.
  21. I think even with Riley on the mound, they lose a game with Vidor. Its either him or Winters (a very good lefty) to take the Silsbee game and then use the Vidor game as a tool.
  22. Riley pitches a 2 hit shut out. He also hits 2 solo jacks.....Woodville wins 2-0
  23. Game called in the top of 7 due to fog.....Score reverts to 6th inning...Second game of DH has been cancelled. Warren---17 Memorial-13 Good job Warriors........
  24. Game called in top of 7th due to fog. Warren had scored 5 more runs to get it to 22-13, but score will revert to 6th inning.... Warren---17 Memorial-13 Way to go Warriors........
  25. Warren -17 Memorial-13 Top of the 7th...fog has rolled in and the 2nd game of the DH has been cancelled. They will finish this inning and call it a night.
