Yeah, I went to Tarkington and we were called Cleveland-Tarkington at State and Regional track meets. Its the crazy UIL people's fault.

It’s Saratoga West Hardin vs. Elkhart Slocum. No one calls either of them by that though. A lot of 1A and 2A schools are made up of 2 or more towns that combine to make one school district or are so small they use larger towns for their address. Saratoga, Batson, Thicket, and Votaw make up West Hardin. People that live in Slocum have Elkhart, TX for their addresses. Tarkington is the same way. They are considered Cleveland Tarkington by UIL because they all have Cleveland addresses. But no one calls them that.

Caleb is a good player and kid but he can't quiet take over a game like Letsinger can. I think he is still pretty young though. A Jr. if i'm not mistaken. He should be pretty dangerous next year once he has been back for a year and gets used to that knee. Gotta go with Letsinger.

Slocum scored about 40 points against Bosqueville last night. If they get the slightest lead they will try to pull everyone out as far away from the basket as possible and drive on you one on one after numerous passes. 15-20 point victory is a pretty good predicatoin for this game.

I met Coach Fuller in Fairfield to watch this one. West Hardin should win this one by 20 and get their subs some PT. Not sure where this one will be played. Coach Fuller was going to talk to the Slocum coach when I was leaving.

Martins Mill played Jarrell this past Saturday and won 43-38. I heard the halftime score was something like 10-14. I know Jarrell is ranked #2 on TABC for 2A but they are in the district I coach in and I have watched them play twice now and have not been impressed at all. After being in the district with Kountze and East Chambers last year I can honestly say they would kill Jarrell. West Hardin and Martins Mill can only meet in the regional championship game and I would say its too close to call. Depends on which of the two teams want it more.

Isn't their something to do with TAKS testing for Tue.? I know our school is doing something tomorrow for it.

I for one would be happy. Say something positive or at least don't name kids if you are going to put someone down. They are just that. Kids!

It was good for the Oilers to get a game in where you play on an open court like in the Montagne. If i'm not mistaken this is their first game ever in such a setting. Having all the space around you and no wall behind the goal will play tricks on your eyes when you shoot. I remember playing in the Montagne when I was in high school at the YMBL and it takes some getting used to. You will benefit from this experience down the road. WOS is a good team who on any given night will take out anybody in the 3A bracket. Good luck to WH and WOS both. Now its time to focus ahead to next weeks games.

Not only should it end...it should have never been started in the first place. Unless someone personally talked to Coach Fuller and can quote him saying "We want no part of you guys at HJ" then its a false claim. With as much talent and the great players HJ does have I still don't see the benefit of playing West Hardin or Newton. Did nobody else want to face them?

Haven't seen WOS play but they seem like a Jekyll and Hyde team. Depending on which team shows up will determine the outcome of this game. WOS will play a style of ball that West Hardin is not used to but will see in the playoffs. I like this matchup. Too close to call.

Why is the #4 3A team in the state trying to schedule 1 and 2 A schools for their warm-up game. Wouldn't they benefit more by playing a 4 or 5 A that took 2nd or 3rd in their district?

Yes, right out of the tip-off Letsinger hit 3 three pointers in a row and then hit a lay-up with the foul to go along with it. Scored 12 straight points to start the game. Had 17 in the first quarter alone and finished with 29. He also added 10 rebounds, 7 assist, and 6 steals. After the first quarter he got the rest of the team involved with 4 Oilers scoring in double digits. All around great player.
