  1. I have been reading this thread for the last couple days and I wanted to add my two cents in. There are great coaches that run outstanding programs and despite all the best intent and effort the wins don't reflect what goes on. On the other hand there are unexperienced and poor coaches that slip into a program that have tremendous sucess. Why is that you ask? Well, sometimes a coach comes in after a good one just left. A lot of coaches use small schools as stepping stones for advancement, there is nothing wrong with that, but sometimes a school needs stability and a passionate coach to lead them and teach them. From what I hear Fortune is one of those kind of guys. Good luck to him and his program and I can see that they will get better with him.
  2. Fellow coaches, I am new to the area and would like to know where I can go for some good eating. I like cajun food and steak. Anyone know of any good spots? No fast food either please.
  3. It really dumbfounds me why a school would have to travel over an hour to each district game, while they pass other same size schools that are much, much, did I say much? Much closer.
  4. Coach Kay at North Shore would be a great hire, I wouldnt be sure if he would leave the Mustangs, But if he did, Crosby would be a power house. That man knows defense
  5. I think to solve this problem is to just play everyone online line in video games. winner take all, no traveling, save money on coaches, you dont have to drag kids to practice. It would be neat
  6. Doesn't matter, PNG gets to play Barbers Hill. Good luck
  7. There is nothing wrong with getting others more playing time, depth is key to winning. Play your starters try to win, start getting kids reps. There are no redo's in the playoffs, your stud my go down and someone had better get ready or the sounds of thump thump will soon be on the horizon.
  8. Coaches will always do what's best for the team. No one plays to lose. I see a good Vidor and a Livingston Team that can be dangerous. It's all or nothing for the Lions, I really don't see this game even close.
  9. After the state of Texas endured one of its hottest summers, the University Interscholastic League is following in the footsteps of the NFL and the NCAA and restricting two-a-day football practices. The UIL on Monday voted to eliminate two-a-days during the first four days of summer drills, prohibit two-a-days on back-to-back practices and extend the recovery period between sessions from one hour to two hours once two-a-days are permitted. If Commissioner of Education Robert Scott approves the UIL's decision, the new regulations will take effect for next season. According to UIL officials, there is no timetable on when Scott will approve or deny the new rules.
  10. This is a tough one. Speed versus Discipline. Normally one would think speed makes up for talent, Ozen has talent and speed, deadly combination. However, Vidor has size, disciplined and well coached offense, tough to defend. I see Vidor keeping the ball out of the the speed and talented Ozen backs hand by long drives and a lot of clock chew. My prediction, Vidor 28-Ozen 24
  11. Both teams need a win for morale. Expect a tight game with the deciding factor of the game be penalties and special teams
  12. It is simple, the team that plays the hardest and makes the fewest mistakes will win this game. It doesn't matter who's hurt or who's healthy. Both are good teams.
  13. Jasper is a good team, I think they will get it figured out and get the ball rolling
  14. Oh boy, a sold out crowd to watch the battle of whose community is more stuck up
  15. sad, I loved him as a player and enjoyed him as an actor. My regards to his family. Good man
