"Being down, makes the ride a the top more enjoyable." Be sure to tell me when it starts - don't want to miss the start ;)
-
Point noted. But take 2 plays (1 a fake punt) off the board for Arkansas and they had only 383 total offense - while still not bad not near what A&M would have given up in 2003 - thus the basis for my optimism.
-
This is the reason that some fans - including me - point to the arrogance of Texas (in some cases) - Texas has never beaten Baylor in this players tenure and he has not done well against Baylor - but yet has the nerve, gall, arrogance ..... whatever you want to say to make that comment. Fact is that Texas is a great university but their football program is going the opposite direction currently than the Baylor Bears. They need to at least catch up before they start talking trash again.

If this game does not make the Aggie faithful a little nervous they are more confident than I am. Still think that A&M pulls it out in another nail biter. But for 2 penalties Arkansas wouldve hung 42 on A&M. I believe Prescott makes State's offense more dynamic than Arkansas'. Only disagreement that I have with that is that is that not for like 3-4 dropped passes A&M would have hung 49 on Arkansas - so we can go back an fourth on this all day - fact is that when if counted A&M's defense stopped Arkansas on straight drives late in the game and then scored on each of it's last drives including OT to take the win. That is the sign of a team that is maturing.

Now that does not surprise me at all :P -
^^^^^^ Is this not a perfect example of the pot calling the kettle black - or what????
-
Sorry you play Kansas and its a cupcake - conference or not. ;)
-
This is going to be another nail biter - two good teams trying to establish themselves as the favorite for the Division. Texas A&M - 39 Mississippi State - 37 I hope A&M can continue this 5-0 start.
-
I - unlike you - have never been anti-Texas - just a realist - Texas will be outmatched this week. And, Congrats your team held KANSAS to Zero points. Don't expect the same from the the Baylor Bears.
-
"Anyone want a cupcake" No we gave you Kansas instead - Same thing ;)
-
This game could get ugly - Baylor by 30+. And I estimate that Texas will score no more than 10 points. Texas scored only 23 points against a team that Allowed: 28 - SE Miss State 41 - Duke (a basketball school I believe it was called when A&M played them) 24 - Central Michigan So to say Texas offense struggled against a bad team. Strong has his work cut out for him.

Yes Yes Baddog we could do this all night - FOR ALL GAMES - Arkansas lost - live with it. There were just as many plays that Texas A&M could claim were game changers as Arkansas can claim - and am sorry a penalty is a penalty and everyone that saw the review - including the expert official on the channel stated that it was a foul and should have been called. -

WNCIP, For you this is nice :D :o But you need to go post on the Texas vs Kansas and comment on that "quality" win for your program. I think Arkansas would have beat Kansas by 50 - but my opinion. But while not pretty - it was impressive in the sense that A&M was down late to a ball control type team that numerous (again) (I saw 3 on ESPN that stated this was a game they expected Arkansas to win in this weeks upset mainly due to the questions about the defenses ability to stop the running game) experts were predicting to win. A&M was able to score and hold the running attack of Arkansas in check to get the ball back - a major step that would not have happened last year. -
^^^^^^ I wonder who really cares :)

You never get ranked after a loss - sorry. Aggie's outplayed 3 1/2 quarters - then pulled out the win - Times they are still achanging at A&M - in the past A&M would be on the other end of that situation. -
The suit was filed in 2012 - some of these type of settlements take years to resolve. This might not be resolved till either (1) Strong is no longer at Texas :( ; or Texas wins its first NC under Strong ;) - who knows.
-
So now two years is old news! Sorry but you have to take the good with the bad when you are talking about "your man" - but alas as always you accept all the positives and dismiss all the negatives - must be nice behind those rose colored glasses you seem to be wearing.
-
WNCIP - Texas A&M, Nebraska, Missouri and Colorado all did not leave due to the inspired leadership of Texas in the Big 12. There were many issues before the LHN but that was the straw that broke the Big 12's back. Also, several of the posters on this forum have stated their feelings toward Texas A&M - like "red headed Step Child" and "Little Brother" - I believe that about sums up Texas's view of the Aggie's (and I have followed them for my full 54 years) and that is that A&M is always less than the "The University" or anything to do with "The University". And then Texas and its fans were shocked and surprised that A&M decided to leave the family and start anew - and it has worked so far - I think to the benefit of Texas A&M as well as to the detriment of Texas..
-
Good to see Baba back - Staying classy I see :D

Baddog - I have never questioned anyone's integrity. My question is with the patience that you and WNCIP seem to think that the Texas establishment (alumni, Sponsors, donors, season ticket holders, etc...) will have with Strong if he does indeed struggle in the W-L Column. I think I have made it clear that I hope he succeeds as I think it will be good for the State of Texas and for football in general. However, I think that you are giving TOO MUCH credit to the patience of the Texas empire that has been Texas football for 100 years - If Strong struggles in he W-L and recruiting he will get some (not all) Texas fans and supporters looking for another solution. Like I have said I have already heard some of my friends that are diehard Texas fans grumbling about the loss to BYU, the prospects for this year and (Most of All) his lack of an impact in the recruiting wars - yet. I have stated and will always state that I wish all colleges could and would put a program like Strong's - low tolerance - but the fact is that in today's Big College football world $$$$$$$ talks - and $$$$ are made with wins not losses. And if you do not think that $$$$$ talks at Texas I believe that you are mistaken.
-
No he should never give up his convictions - but will he be able to win AT THE LEVEL that Texas and its fans expect with his convictions that is the question - and nobody has the answer to that question at this time. I have always stated that I hope Strong succeeds as I think that it could do nothing but help the university. However, I also have my doubts that he can succeed if he does not get the above average high school athlete to buy into that type of program. Lets face it in today's world the best athletes in high school are by in large a group of entitled young men - and will they be willing to go to a college that has very strict rules to follow - who knows. What I do know that those that do will likely have a more enjoyable less problematic college career. Convictions or not if you think that Texas and its fans would rather have a "clean" and "strong" program over one that wins 10 - 11 games a year you are quite likely mistaken. If he can keep his convictions and win lots and lots of games he will succeed. If he wins 7 - 8 games a year and has the cleanest program in the country he will be forced to move on - Texas and its fans will not accept those numbers
-
"We did not ask for the divorce. You did." That's another area that I think we disagree. You are right Texas did not ask for the divorce - but I do believe that they forced it.
-
The big question that I have is simple - how will his dismissing 9 players affect his future recruits? At these camps that all schools now have the top recruits will normally meet and possibly become friends a lot more than when I was in school - is this a topic of conversation - and if it is is it beneficial for Texas or not? You can dismiss perceptions all you want but if Texas is losing the PR battle among the future recruits Strong's tenure at Texas will be short.
-
Truth is the only SEC bias comes from the jealousy of the other conferences due to the coverage and other benefits (recruits, TV $$$ and others) that the SEC is now enjoying. And, GCMPats2 - did not ESPN invest millions into the LHN - what's the difference?
