1.
Even a blind squirrel can find a nut every now and then.  However, I will say that there were numerous things that surprised me about this game:   -  The play calling was almost good.  I mean, our offensive coordinator appears to have finally figured out that it is ok to use play action. And, even more surprisingly, it is ok to throw the ball to your tight end -  The defense hung in there ok. -  Southeast Louisiana has either an absolutely horrible secondary, or their coaches are terrible, or our offenisve coordinator has suddenly turned into a genious because our receivers were just wide open most of the game. -  Bevil only threw one interception and only had one fumble.  That is amazing for him. -  We were able to do a good job against the run.
I don't know about years past, but this year LU has a tight end who can run a route, make a block and who also has good hands.
 2. I've been to every game this season. The defense seems to be able to stiffen up at times, but is suspect to the big play. We seem to fall asleep here and there. I was impressed at how well IWU and SLU moved the ball, seemingly at will sometimes. Coleman will be missed, but our boys had better be ready to put some points on the board to win Saturday. The scoreboard is going to be busy and well lit up by all of the scoring. LU 41 - NW 38
 3. Payden has quite a few Youtube videos posted. Just google his name or search Youtube: Payden McVey. He was a helluva blocker for a primarily running team, but they threw to him when they needed more than a few yards for a first down (around 500 yards for 2010). He won DPHS O Line MVP his Junior year for his pancake and "de-cleater" blocking and he won DPHS Receiver MVP this year (senior) at Deer Park HS for his receiving. They also played him at Def End and Linebacker at times when they needed pressure on the QB. One of only 10 players (out of hundreds nominated) in the entire Houston area selected as a finalist for 2010 Offensive Player of the Year (won by eventual 5A state champ RB from Pearland) and ... Nat Honor Society (very smart kid!). He's just over 6'1", 220, but is very explosive and plays a lot bigger than that. I think he's a real sleeper and great signee for LU!
