2. New here so please forgive me, but what is Kelly's interest in PNG??? Why is it such an issue that they did not get to play them this year??? ???
 3.
Was not at the game...but this entire post is very confusing?  I know how the Lady Indians are coached.....and would say that the "no class" comment is probably way out of line!  Could someone comment further on what the actions of " no class" means?  PNG has and will always be a team that is well coached and well disciplined and will always play within the peramiters of the districts "respect rule"...But I will say this...These girls will play tough when the wistle blows and the ball is between the lines...That is playing the game!
Not so much confusing, just two different subjects... (1) PNG girls played well and with no disrespect towards the opposing team. I truly do not know where the "no class" and disrepect to the field views came from as I cannot recall any negative play at all the entire game. I agree, PNG coach would not tolerate any other type of play other than respectful. (2) There were only two refs for the game, which means they each covered 1/2 of field. No ARs on sideline does leave room for missed fouls and there were a couple not called Friday night. The only infractions I saw were missed offside calls, nothing more. Not a biggie, but some parents had a different opinion. I am sure coaches would prefer three refs, but I understand there were not enough refs to cover all Varsity games on Friday as were needed and many of the games that evening only had 2 refs for cover.

In fact, it seemed Ozen girls were pretty happy with their play at the end of the game and I know a couple who had nice conversations with each other. Didn't seem either team had a problem with the play last night... Only problem I saw was parents who thought refs weren't doing their job...that's a matter of opinion as well...
Not related to this game... due to the fact that I was not there... but it is funny that I and a longtime coach friend of mine were having the same conversation about how parents from BOTH sides generally complain about the officiating of the game and also the less than stellar behavior of the opponents players.. It's just interesting that both sides generally come to the same conclusion, that the the refs were in favor of the other team and the other team sure has some nasty players..  I am usually one of those parents ;D
So true Rip :) Having insight on both sides, it is tough for refs to catch every call just as tough as being a parent and seeing those missed calls. there were a couple last night that were legitimate misses. It is what it is. I will stand by my view that PNG  and Ozen had a good, clean game. PNG girls did not disrespect players or fields...

 6. Knew this would be a great match and both keepers delivered in this game! Both will be fun to watch this season, Bianca being an excellent keeper as always and Lovejoy showing us what is to come for the next few years! PA News reported PNG led in shots on goal 18-12. That number is more balanced than I would have thought. Only got to watch a portion of game but it seemed PNG dominated.
 7. I have met the Nederland goalie on several occasions and she has always been pleasant. She is actually a very humble goalie and I enjoy watching her play. She had a fantastic high school season last year and I wonder if some of the frustration is the young team she is working with this year not to mention the loss of an excellent player (L.R.)... if she is still benched due to injury. This team, however, will likely grow into excellent competition for the district in the next couple of years. Now that I think about it, Nederland is using two goalies this year. Comments may not be directed to Bianca afterall...hmmm. Soccerfan, had an opportunity to see your girls at a tournament. They are a spunky bunch and know how to keep team cohesiveness on the sidelines. They made me smile seeing how they worked to keep the sidelines positive. Didn't hear any negative statements from them. Their coach should be proud to have a group of fun and determined girls.
 8.
For girls, has the Jasper wave started to hit shore yet? (or should I say Twister) Once it does, it will be non-stop for years to come.  Can South County (PNG - Nederland) compete with Lumberton?  What is the status now.  I know what it will look like in a few years.  Same for Lumberton -- those are going to be some epic matches.
PNG beat Lumberton in their scrimmage (4-1). Lumberton beat Nederland in their scrimmage.
 9. Anyone have scores from the couple of varsity games today? Got plenty of team in this tournament:  Central, Bridge City, Jasper, Lumberton, Nederland, Port Neches-Groves and Vidor, to name a few.
 10.

PNG GIRLS ranked #7 defeats #6 Goose Creek Memorial 8-1!  May be better than the #7 ranking they were given?
Congrats, I  think.  You do know this was a scrimmage though right?  Most coaches use these to test out new ideas and see what works for their team.  I have no doubt the Lady Indians will do well but don't brush off GC Memorial just yet.  They'll do just fine.....
PNG beat #4 ranked Angleton today 4-1. I agree, there's a possibility they may be better than the #7 ranking they were given.
